Red currants and gooseberries
« on: June 23, 2011, 09:51 »
Our red currant and gooseberry bushes have been extremely productive this year.  So far I have picked 10 kilos from each and the branches are still heaving with fruit.

I usually make redcurrant jelly and a gooseberry and elderflower jam but I am looking for other things to make with them as well.

Any ideas will be gratefully recieved.
I always find that work gets in the way of life.

BBC good food recipe, have only made sorbet with strawberries & vodka, but of the link works, I 'm sure you could combine rasperries & redcurrants, but not sure how long it would keep for

Summer pudding, Rumtopf ? spelling - basically gin or vodka infused with the berries, bit like sloe gin?

For starters, anyway?

I suspect goosberry sawfly caterpillars, not snails.

Have a look around and you might well find some. :(
