Title: Onion ID please

Hi.

Are the varieties 'Stuttgarter' and 'Stuttgarter Giant' the same? I saw a pack of around 10 'Stuttgarter' sets in a Poundshop today (yes, for £1!) and I'm interested but I don't necessarily want to grow giant onions.

Are Stuttgarter a good onion? (I already have two over-wintering varieties in the ground from last Autumn but I want to grow some more for storage. Just wondering what to try for a good reliable, good storage crop.

They are one and the same. Yellow skinned onions that are qiute sweet in taste and store well.

Mine have never been gigantic, just normal tbh  :D Definitely worth growing IMHO

John; 10 for £1 means 10p each - you can buy them fully grown for cheaper. You should be able to get a bag of 50 for that price, not 10.

I bought a bag of Red Baron sets from the pound shop, 350g with 136 onions in it.  Has a 0 got lost, I wonder?

Hmmm, I think I'll need to check this.

Perhaps I'm getting confused between bags of Shallots and bags of onions - what a twit  :wacko:

I'll be back there next Monday - must concentrate!

I bought the stutgarter onions from the pound shop, it is 350g certainly more than 10

the golden gourmet shallots also from the poundshop had about 14 in
