Thanks for the replies people. I shall leave them growing for now and take some more pictures soon which might give better clues. I didnt think I had teasel seeds. I was using old comppost so they could be but shall have to wait and see. Maybe im growing the worlds first edible teasel

Still looks like teasel to me.

Looks like the spines are starting to develop on the leaves.

Thanks Digger Dave, I wont be looking forward to eating it then but shall keep on watering it. It still seems odd that I had 4 teasels grow where I didnt want them. I am using second hand compost, are they looked upon as a weed?

Depends.

My neighbour grows them for ornamental purposes. The seeds of his that grow on my plot, I regard as weeds and get short shrift from the swoe!

I believe finches of various kinds look upon teasel seed heads as breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Yeah they do thats why I grow them. I have a patch by our little pond, their full of bees for a start then the birds come

yep agreed defo TEASEL. Got loads in my garden too!!

The only reason I know as I recently found out it is Teasel as I asked my Green Thumb guy that looks after my lawn and he told me what it was.
