Have you been especially good for Santa?

As usual I got some lovely presents, but one of my favourites from my OH is an original WW1 army knife to go with my collection of "Memories of Ypres" plus two Beswick birds I wanted for my display cabinet.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Yes I must have because I got a new phone totally unexpected plus the plug in Sat Nav for my new car that I sort of knew I was getting but best of all I got a 1-1 yoga session with my yoga teacher which will be just fabulous when I’m well enough to arrange it to get the most from it. I also got some lovely other presents. But actually the really best of all was seeing my family rally round when I was taken very poorly on the 23rd & watching our little granddaughter all Christmas afternoon playing with her gifts, opening presents, looking at our tree & then sitting with me for 1/2 hour looking at photos on my iPad,priceless.

I'm sure you will have given him a halfpenny for the knife, Goosey!

I had to check the one I have in the shed, and find it is a W & S Rogers, Sheffield model, but 1943, so my dad would have taken it to Nigeria at the end of the war - definitely not WW1 though...

I can remember him using it to trim up some new turf in 1953 too, but he was out of the army by then!

This Christmas I've done my usual trick of keeping Cotton Traders in profit - they have great stuff for Growsters and also Mrs Growsters as well for that matter!

Daughts gave us some cordless digital earphones, a new version Rubik Cube, and the trad bottle of Glenmorangie for the both of us!

Fabulous time for all, especially as the GDs had one of those drones which fly round the room, and hit the remote-control car coming the other way!

Sorry you were so poorly, Snows! I hope you're on the mend now. x.

Snows - I hope you are feeling somewhat better by now; if not why not?? Yesterday we got another delivery of presents from our niece as we've not been well either so couldn't get them to their home. One was a most beautiful pic of our great-niece and nephew; another was a family calendar they made with pics taken during this last year including some digging on one of our plots we gave them to grow their own veg, and the last was a Christmas cake made and decorated by our very talented niece. All home-made and so appreciated!

Thanks both, I am considerably better than I was, still not quite right & still breathless at times so I’m having to use the inhaler still when I would prefer not to be. Got an appointment on the 5th to see the asthma nurse at the surgery so I might be a bit wiser.

Snows - this is for you and anyone else whose not been well over Christmas.

YOU CAN'T BE ILL AT Christmas!
It’s the very time of year
When you are full of Christmas cheer
And all the food is gathered near
You can’t be ill at Christmas!

If you are, you’ll cook your goose.
You cannot let the family loose
Or they’ll be wailings “round the hoose”
You can’t be ill at Christmas.

Rudolph doesn’t drip his nose
On all the pans upon the stove
Does he heck and, so by Jove,
You can’t be ill at Christmas!

Hang on a mo and have a think.
You won’t be tied to the kitchen sink,
So give them all a little wink
You can be ill at Christmas.

So put your feet up. Have a rest.
Goosey knows just what is best.
A Southern Comfort down your chest!
You can be ill at Christmas.

Stuff the halls bedecked with holly
And the season to be jolly.
Let them push the shopping trolley!
You can be ill at Christmas.

Get the Kleenex out and then
Be just like Sharpe. Command your men!
Tell them time and time again
You can be ill at Christmas!

Glad it helped. Nope - we're still under the weather but at least we're warm and dry with plenty of food choices depending on what we feel like eating.
