We purchased a new coop for the 2 bantams that we have.
It looks wonderful but the girls dont like it at all. They were previously used to perching high up in the wood shed and the new coop is low down with the perches quite low also.
They successfully laid in the nest boxes yesterday no problems but are not happy in the coop. Getting them in last night was harder than the night before!
Not sure if this is an issue but when they were on the higher perch they 'dropped' all night but last night there was none which was a bit concerning.
Any thoughts to help us as the last thing we want to do is stress the girls - thanks!

some hens don't poop at all over night but wait to be let out first thing and do 1 huge poop  .
Can you not make a stand to raise the coop off the ground (this also makes it easier to clean out - no bending down) and fit a ramp for them to get in and out. It is after-all natural for them to roost high up away from predators. If not possible they will eventually get used to it.

As i write the coop is being raised along with the perch inside - we will see how we get on tonight.

Their perch should be higher than the nest box - it may already be but just thought i should point it out.
