When do you start to pull a few leaves away from the base
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

I was too late last year, and so have started doing this just a few days ago.

The little side leaves which seem to be smaller, and more' weedy' need to be hoiked off now, so that you have near vertical growth, and no side-spreading leaves.

You can probably see the root bulb in some sort of shape, and that's the chap to be watering and feeding from now on!

What do you feed your celeriac? Mine see to be doing well which I am pleased with and I have been pulling the leaves off for some time. I am trying to be organic (nettle tea still brewing? So would chicken pellets, BFB or seaweed feed be any good? I

If it were me, I'd put all those on, RJ!

We feed all our plants with a mixture of 6x in water, nettle and comfrey tea - we're not that exact on quantities either, but celeriac is a greedy beast, so the more water the better!

Ok, thanks for that. I am doing the big soak tonight before we go away for 11 days (so praying we get some rain here while I am away). I will make sure I include some feed in tonight's session

Mine are still languishing in 3in pots on my balcony. Must. Dig.

At least they haven't gone to seed yet...

Mine are looking very healthy and just starting to show a little bulge at the base,  but I haven't grown them before so haven't got anything to compare with.  I have been faithfully sprinting round with several watering cans every night (the budget won't stretch to a hosepipe & by the time it does, there will probably be a ban  ::)) but will give them a banquet of feed tonight and hope it keeps them happy.
