Title: Life expectancy
Post by: Geo on January 17, 2012, 22:39
I have 3 black rock hybrids that are around  23 months old. How long do they tend to live for. Two of them have stopped laying but I do not want to dispatch them. I will let them run with the rest of the hens until theirs time comes.

blackrocks can live to be over 8 and still lay the occasional egg - barring illness of course  :)

Thanks Joyful
Just in from a long day at work. first chance I have had to read any replies.
Is it possible they are taking  a break from laying and will start again as the days get longer. The combs and whattles are pale in colour

more than likely, and now that the days are getting longer you won't have to wait too long  :)
