Title: Life expectancy of a cockerel.

Anyone any idea how long a cockerel is supposed to last? Ive grown so attached to Monty, and just wondered how long he is likely to be around.

well I know of pekin cocks who have lived to 10years plus, my pekin is about 6 now and in fine fettle. I might be wrong but I have a feeling that larger heavier breeds dont live as long and fertility usually drops off at around  years old. I would say a good average age for a medium cockerel would be around 5-6years old -but thats just an opinion :D

I was going to say: hopefully longer than it takes to get an ASBO on him then I realised you are in France
