I used tanalised timber, but i lined the sides with a double layer of thick plastic to keep the soil from contacting the wood and this seems to work OK. Should last a few years, hope so as it cost a fortune to do.

Due to the flood damage there is still hundreds of skips in and around worcester. I knocked on a few doors and aquired some skirting boards which I plan to turn into raised beds in a couple of weeks. I don't expect them to last forever but they were free and will do for now.

I originally planned not to bother with raised beds but the bottom end of my plot is heavy clay and my fruit cains didn't take (the rain didn't help either!), so I thought I would try them.

I used link-a-bord (correct spelling I believe), it was really easy to put together and not too expensive - am just about to re-create new ones in the new garden here
