corn husk
« on: October 30, 2010, 21:07 »
I was watching indian masterchef version and found somebody using corn husk for cooking. she did something like this.
1. steamed a canape sort of thing on corn husk
2. made a spicy stir-fried chutney with kernels
3. shredded some oriental greens.
and on the plate while eating she first peeled canape from the husk. topped it with chutney and garnished on top with salad.
and she got the best dish of the day.
read about corn husk and it is used in cooking especially steaming
http://www.practicallyedible.com/edible.nsf/pages/cornhusks
and there is a special dish from mexican I found in google called tamales
http://allrecipes.com//HowTo/making-tamales/Detail.aspx
thought I would share.
I am not going to throw the husk next year. Will be dried and used for any sort of steaming.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

Wow!  I never knew that.  I always leave the foliage on when I cook my corn as it keeps in the moisture.   Good to see that nothing gets wasted  :)
