Bit of a good news / bad news post but that’s nothing new. Overall we’re on the plus side which is good. However the hens aren’t too happy at being kept in their protected run.

It seems lockdowns on free ranging birds are the norm every winter now doesn’t it. I can see a move back to barn eggs at this rate. My lot are in roofed runs as well, but that is not really an option on a commercial scale.

I think you're right about moving back to barn eggs - whatever happens I think the days of dirt cheap eggs are over.
The freezer is a comfort when prices are shooting up and those in the know warning of supply problems heading our way.

Hugely impressive freezer
My parents had a large chest freezer when I was growing up. I'm pretty sure Mum couldn't reach the stuff at the bottom
