Drip Cake Advice
« on: March 08, 2021, 22:13 »
I need to make a birthday cake for an 8 year old.

I have made lots of football themed cakes  ::) so I thought he might like something like this drip cake.
Does anyone have any advice how to make the 'drip' part run neatly down the sides and not end up a lop sided mess.
I am very conscious I only have one shot at this!

Thanks
Elaine

Cupcake Jemma has a good youtube tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55w65rj0pJQ

I practised around the inside edge of the mixing bowl 'til I was happy with the technique

If you have a buttercream iced cake that you are dripping chocolate down, put it in the freezer or fridge for a while before you do the dripping.  If the base icing is cold, it will slow the chocolate down.

Thank you both for your advice.
The video was brilliant so I am feeling braver now!
I think I might need to buy a turntable.

Thanks mumofstig.

As it happens I posted a request for one on the local facebook reuse site, and a friend messaged me to say she had a spare! So I now have a turntable  :)

Looking forward to pictures of your finished cake.  I'd never thought of doing one before but my kids would just love that for their birthdays.
