CLIMBING FRENCH BEAN - BLUE LAKE
I was thinking of growing next year in the greenhouse the French beans, getting fed up with toms etc.
Plus no room in my small garden (full of flowers).
Is this possible to do in the GH?
I'm lost without my SatNav.

I have grown them in the GH and also outside, both ways were ok. Nice beans.

I've grown climbing French beans in the greenhouse, but they made a lot of growth and height in the greenhouse not quite the same as "outside" :)  consequently I now prefer to plant Dwarf French Beans in the greenhouse

French beans are self pollinating, so its OK if they flower before the Bees are active in the spring.

You could grow them in the flower border at the back, they aren't unattractive. If you want flowers and beans, why not grow the bi-coloured runners, they're really quite pretty.

I had to look it up but... Painted Lady produce pink and white flowers. I don't think there's a French Bean equivalent.

As I have a small greenhouse and small garden I will grow 16 plants down one side and on the other side may have room for 1 or 2 tomatoes'.
The garden is done by my wife as I have a bit of a problem with one arm and hand but help her as much as I can, she likes her flowers, don't want to bite the hand that feeds me.
So a re cap, packet of seeds 100, plants needed 16.
I have email my friends and family so I can give away any surplus as I always plant to many, this year I had about 30 tom plants but only needed two.
Thanks for all the help

Blue lake is a nice variety  :) I grew the bush type this year but think I'll do the climbing ones next year to save on space.
