Germination of direct sown peas
« on: April 25, 2012, 10:36 »
Ive been lurking for a while but found loads of answers so not needed to post much before now but i need help!!

Put the peas directly in the ground just over 3 weeks ago. I covered with net and there are no obvious holes from mice but still nothing showing. HOw much longer do you think I should wait before starting again?

Thanks in advance

I suggest you get your "furtling finger" out and investigate whether they are germinating or rotting.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

My Champion of England took 5 weeks to show signs of life, but they seem to have almost all now shot up - most are about 3" so far.

I used DD's method which is often promoted on here.  No fuss and seems to work well.

I put my second row in about 4 weeks ago and were just showing when I went up on Saturday.

I suspect this weather will slow them up.

id think about sowing some more in some plastic guttering filled with compost. when they get big enough drag a ditch with a hoe and slide them in. :)
