Allergen free bread
« on: November 07, 2014, 16:29 »
Ok so the wheat and gluten free flour arrives. On the back it says not suitable for traditional bread recipes.

So now we need a bread with no milk, soya, eggs, milk, wheat and gluten and nut free.

i have drawn a blank any miracles out there.

? But isn't the point that traditional bread recipes require Gluten to allow them to rise. So what you need to find is a Gluten Free Bread Recipe using Gluten Free Flour (or am I missing the point).

I've used Xanthum Gum to replace the Gluten in Gluten free bread. Although I will admit I haven't found a truly successful wheat free bread recipe, somehow the shop bought stuff is better than anything I've been able to make.

I picked up the doves farm gluten free bread flour hoping it would work with a basic bread recipe..... It didnt.

All the wheat and gluten free bread in shops contains other stuff they cant eat.

I found one online but at 7 pound a loaf I just dont know if I can justify that

I was going to suggest the Doves website too, but I tried a few recipes to try to help my SIL who is gluten intolerant, and she had also tried loads of different things, but none are a patch on real bread.

The best one she has ever had is 'Genius' gluten free bread.

Oh sorry BQ, just read the post where you said all the commercially made gluten free stuff isn't any good for them.  I am so lucky I can eat just about anything!

Can I just say thank goodness for the word vegan! It helps make the search a little less wordy lol.
Maybe there's something of use here..,

Hi BQ - were still trying to get the hang of gluten intolerance here

hubby newly diagnosed - to be honest we are avoiding gluten free bread altogether as its not a patch on real bread

we mainly had it as toast for breaky but we now have things like flat mushrooms with toppings such as melted dairy lea ( its lush )

peppers sliced in half with fillings of choice

beans and eggs with potato cakes and bacon

or just a tea / coffee and fresh fruit and yogurt

to be honest we are finding it much healthier as we avoid cakes and biscuits to - I've tried a few simple recipes but still on a learning curve  ;)

suppose its not easy to get kids to eat so easily  :(

We found that flax seeds can be boiled down to replace egg so I am off shopping tomorrow, my only worry is that seeds so far always come with a nut x contamination warning so my glory maybe short lived.

Breakfast is proving hardest as cereals, toast, crumpets, etc are all out. Yoghurts etc are all out as he is off milk, soya and egg. Talk about test my skills. I have had my wobble now I need to shut myself in the kitchen emerging one week later as super allergy mum.

Cute but the first and second are eggs. LOL not sure if harry would rate banana trees, tomato and cucumber for his breakfast. Found an apple pancake recipe though.  ;)

At the moment the little monkey is having bubble and squeak for breakfast. Lol the dietician has always said if thats what works let them have it. Florence loves potato and bacon for breakfast, the allergy doc just laughs when he says what do you eat for breakfast.  florence used to reply potato for every meal.
