Title: weed identification
Post by: Jasper1 on October 02, 2011, 16:35
I have a weed that grows everywhere on the patio and in my flower beds. It has yellow flowers, pinkish/red stems and leaves that looks like a clover leaf.
What is it and how do I get rid of it without constantly digging it up.

Sounds like this little delight

It has tiny little tubers that just seem to get everywhere -- it has even made it to my plot for the garden, where my son added it to his 'patch' when he was about six or seven and he is now thirty one

Never managed to actually get rid of it, although I am sure with more dedication this can be done.

Have a tiny clump between the slabs on our patio right now  :D :D :tongue2:

Yep I agree - I've got it too - came in a pot plant that was left to me by a friend who was moving house - is now happily colonising the gravel round the pot - I think it's pretty, but I can see how it could be invasive. If it gets out of hand I roundup it or pull it out.

I got it in some topsoil and hoick it out if I see it. It has bulbils like celandines and I think it is  a type of oxalis - and invasive!  ???

I thought it was pretty at first,
which I suppose it is.
And it certainly likes taking root
in flower pots.
Just one of those chores I'm afraid.
Though I do give the ones in my
paving stones a quick blast
with weedkiller.
