I went on a hen hunt as it was getting dark, only one hen from yesterday was inside.  The 3 new hens from last week (who are smaller than the new hens from yesterday) were huddled outside by the food bin, the other 4 hens were on the wood pile.  It took me a while to find Emu, she was snug between some big logs :D   I got them all into the house (have the scratches on my arm to prove it :( ) Emu started to do her odd movements but not as much as last night :)
Hens sure do keep us entertained :D

Just a recap:

This is Oliveview’s hen  putting her head right back, almost touching her back and holding herself really still

Ideas were:

neurological disorder – no cure
Vitamin E  deficiency – good diet will cure
Affilotoxin - 'Star Gazing' – no cure
Botulism mentioned in passing just for interest

Chook seems better so Aunty is winning so far

Let us know how she’s getting on Pamela :D

A miracle is an event believed to be caused by interposition of divine intervention by a supernatural being in the universe by which the ordinary operation of Nature is overruled, suspended, or modified.

#de da, de da, de da ,de da, de da#

Emu is looking much better, she was looking at me first thing with her head tipped right back when I went down to let the hens out at 7.30 this morning.  I  have been to check on them a couple of times and I can´t see any problems while she is walking about.

Odd or what?

I'm wondering if anyone here would be able to tell me what 'morbidity' means in this instance?

When I got into chickens I had no idea I'd be getting so much technical  information on biology and medicine.  I keep winding up reading about conditions and practices using technical language I'm mostly unfamiliar with.

slightly overwhelmed, but fascinated, Crow

Morbidity means illness.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

We went down to check on the hens and to see if they were roosting on the perches (no) and Emu was back to her strange pose, neck right back   She was sitting on top of the metal food tray     So I put her and the other new hens up on the roost.
I think I have just got a hen that is kind of odd    Bless her :D   I feel quite protective of her already.
