rearing houses
« on: June 28, 2009, 21:52 »
hi guys

Where would i find poultry rearing houses.  My father has been looking at replacing his 50 hens, last year he paid £3.50 each for his pol however this year he is quoted £10 each.  All the people who he called said they were waiting for the deliverys from the rearing houses where they buy them from.  He was wondering if there is any rearing houses where he could go direct too? he has plenty sapce and experience to buy in more than 50 if needed and to sell the exes on?

I would love to say me, but we picked up 450 day olds just over a week ago.  4 of them have already gone and 410 are already reserved, so I won't have enough.

I can't understand some of these places.  My POL's sell for £6.50, but if someone like Sean up in Horncastle buys a lot, then he gets them £1 cheaper because I'm not feeding them for as long.  Mind you, he takes them at 12-16 weeks old.

I'll find out who the rep is for the hatchery we use and I'll PM you their number.  If you ask nicely, they may give you the details of their nearest rearer to you.  It's worth a try!!
