Stir-fry of some description. Had a bug the last couple of days - hopefully not The Bug, as it came and went without a cough - but not really that interested in food yet.

Going to FIL's for dinner this afternoon. Not really looking forward to it as I know it will be a meat fest which I'm not into. He also, to my mind, cooks things too quickly, it's not that they're overdone but slower would make them less 'tough'.
-
Back home again now and it was as bad as I expected. Beef, gammon and tongue. He must have put the cauliflower on to cook before Christmas as it was mush as was the cabbage which he then fried with bacon. I've never been able to face pearl barley since, when I was very young, my nan used to boil it up and then make us drink the thick, pinky coloured liquid, telling us it was "good for your kidneys". You REALLY don't want to know what she did when we had chilblains!

We're having a new kitchen fitted next week, so we're running our supplies down. Perfect excuse for a pizza delivery...
-
Pasta with hm tomato sauce out of the freezer. Also found a few scallops and prawns which I think were leftover from another meal as they were unceremoniously dumped in a bag together, so used them as well.
Came out as a rather classy seafood pasta with some fresh parsley from the greenhouse :)
-
Sourdough flatbread wraps filled with cold chicken and freshly picked spinach and land cress.
-
Lamb chop with cauliflower cheese, peas and roasties :)
-
Sourdough flatbread wraps
Homemade? If so, do you have a recipe I could pinch :)
-
Sourdough flatbread wraps
Homemade? If so, do you have a recipe I could pinch :)
Certainly, 345g flour (we use half strong white bread flour and half wholemeal bread flour)
200g water
1.5 tsp fine sea salt
40g sourdough starter
Mix it all together (we use a bread maker on dough setting) and leave it to rise all day (7 or 8 hours)
Divide into 8 balls, roll each one out then stretch by hand immediately prior to cooking on a cast iron hot plate. You could probably grill them too
-
Bacon steak with baby pots peas and broccolli pineapple ring , for pud rest of fruit pie and custard . :)

-
Stir fried prawns and broccoli in garlic sauce, plus a quick braised dish of tofu and mushrooms. Plain rice to eat it all with :)
-
Plan A was Cajun chicken and mash. They were those pre-marinade things from snasbods and a quick taste test confirmed they were like rancid butter  Max enjoyed them. Not sure what they're doing to the chicken lately but I don't like it.
Plan B was leftover lamb and pearl barley stew, it's been in the fridge for a while and had developed that overly lamby smell, better not risk it - so Max also enjoyed that too.
I then spent longer than I'd like to admit pondering the actual difference between egg noodles and tagliatelle, eventually ended up settling on a peanut butter and nutella sandwich. ::)
Normal service will resume tomorrow with a HM pizza - probably.
-
Pork Chop with all the trimmings, Plum crumble and ice cream :D
-
Pork loin with lemon roast wedges and salad stuff .
-
Roast chicken dinner with home grown braised red cabbage from the freezer and some freshly picked plot greens.

Mashed potatoes on the side to mop up all the sauce and some tender stem broccoli for something green on the plate.
-
Cornish pasty (but without the pastry) with peas and green beans.
-
sausage, egg and chips with baked beans, really easy and quick. It's the end of the year for us and I am doing the stocktaking on my own at the moment, so really don't have the 'brain time' to come up with anything more exciting. :D Tomorrow will probably be just as exciting.
-
Chicken stir fry, banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)
-
Lamb keema with cauliflower rice.
-
Cheese and pickle sandwich on fresh, warm, HM, crusty bread and one of the last apples for storage :tongue2: Promise to have something green and leafy tomorrow. :nowink:

It is this Snowdrops.
https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pasta-recipes/sweet-leek-carbonara/
It doesn’t have to be fresh thyme. I’ve used parsley, basil and even dried oregano before now. I add fresh green herbs at the end, but dried ones at the beginning.
Tonight was American diner special - burgers, fries, onions rings and corn on the cob. Darn good as well :D
-
Also plundering the lucious delights of the US of A, Southern fried chicken, cajun fries, onion rings and breaded mushrooms.
-

Thank you that sounds delicious & one to store away for my veggie sister

Deconstructed cottage pie and chunky mixed veg, all covered in spoon standing. Looked for an apple for pud but the warm weather has seen the last of them off. :( Kidds Orange Red being the last to turn.
-
Finally our new kitchen has been finished so a homemade Admiral's pie tonight with chips. A couple of bottles of the redders for pud and a bar of coconut and rum dark chocolate to go with the good stuff.
-
Meh leftovers, just not enough for proper meal but enough not to bother doing anything else yesterday. Curry planned tonight with the rest of the mince.
-
Lamb steak with roasties, still not decided whether to have with salad or more veggies
-
Mince and onion slice with new pots and veg, apple crumble and custard :)
-
Roast pork, roast potatoes, the very last of the plot leeks and some plot braised red cabbage from the freezer.
I picked rhubarb today, so we are having a crumble with that and some plot raspberries from the freezer. I have ice-cream and a bit of squirty cream to use up so going all out. Good job I did a decent session of gardening today
-
Savoury rice from yesterdays leftovers and there's a pork loin chop somewhere too if it defrosts in time.
-
Toad in the hole tonight, rest of last night pud :)
-
Gammon with carrots, peas and mash.
-
Lamb meatballs in spicy sauce, herby couscous and some roasted veg, none of it grown by me, but the herbs for the couscous were
-
I made a cottage pie with plot cabbage. Only 1 more left to eat now ::)
-
Pasta bake except I got the wrong tub out of the freezer and it was chilli not pasta sauce. It turned out OK though - a bit different, but in a good way :)
Rhubarb and raspberry jelly for pud with squirty cream.
-
Smoked haddock,with mash,carrots,broccoli, cauliflower & cheese sauce
-
I was asked to make toad in the hole but someone (not me) forgot to buy the milk needed. Changed to sausage, egg and chips as he had bought some reduced chips today. We have already discussed tomorrow and decided curry is on the menu.
-
I used the last of the ham, with HG tomatoes FTF, to make a sauce for Penne pasta, with cheese on top, of course. Salad bits on the side.
-
Quick game of guess the dinner from the damage
The roof of my mouth is smooth and blistered.
Today's dinner will be beef stew and probably mash - it's supposed be beef and ale stew, but it will probably end up being beef stew with an ale. :nowink:
-
Chicken stripes cooked in BQ sauce with pilua rice and pineapple and yoghurt for pud :)
Already cooked ready for tomorrow H/M Fish pie and veg :D
-
Surf & Turf, giant mushrooms topped with melty cheese, onion rings, breaded mushrooms, giant grilled tomato and curly fries!
-
Swedish meatballs (PON) with mash, chips, peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, red currant jelly
-
Leftover stew - The beef is tough as old boots despite being in the slow cooker for 8 hours. A trip to the butchers is almost enough for me to warrant getting the car fixed... almost.
-
Soddages and mash, probably old-style, just with fried onions
I was thinking of making an apple pie, but not sure if I can be bothered to make the pastry  ::)
It's just one of those days - when walking to the Co op for milk and the paper was a real effort *sigh*
There's always tomorrow, so they say!
-
Chicken and spinach curry with rice, onion, tomato and cucumber salad and some yogurt.
There's always tomorrow, so they say!
Hopefully a better day tomorrow :)
Soddages, mash and fried onions sounds wonderful. I have soddages in the freezer as well. You may have sorted my tea for tomorrow ;)
-
Baked trout on sliced potatoes & onions cooked in fish stock, peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower .
-
First roast since the new kitchen was installed! Chicken and all the trimmings.
-
Roast lamb, potatoes and veg. Lamb has been marinading in garlic and rosemary overnight. It smells lovely.
-
OH badly wanted a roast, so soddages are on hold until later in the week. Roast chicken dinner instead and rhubarb crumble for pud :)
-
I was doing so well but the CBA fairy has showed up again. Gave Max the stew, it was literally too much effort to eat the rest of it. Pork chops are defrosting not sure yet if they'll get covered in spoonstanding, sweet and sour or spiced up Cajun style. I should start buying oven chips or something :nowink: .
-
Well it was going to be the rest of yesterday’s roast lamb, but hubby just suggested we save that for tomorrow & have chicken breast & wedges so that what it is, plus the lamb can go in a hot pot tomorrow which will be good if we get to do some more on my poly tunnel if ge hoops turn up :D
-
Curry from yesterday's left over lamb.
-
Oh dear, Paul wanted to cook the curry as he had found a recipe on line for 'left over lamb curry'. Ever grateful that I didn't have to cook left him to it. Ate two mouthfuls and couldn't eat any more. He'd put coriander leaf in it which I don't like and it was all I could taste. He knows I don't like it and his excuse was ' the recipe said to'. Three hours later and I'm still sat here with a mouth full of sup suds! :nowink:
-
I had a chicken breast with spicy breadcrumbs, Aunt Bessies mini roasties, peas, carrots, green beans and sweetcorn mixed veg.
Baked apple and ice cream for pud :)
-
Chicken stirfry last night and Spaghetti bolonase for tonight and rest of fruit trifle for pud :)
-
Lamb hotpot for us tonight.
-
The other pork chop, was going to do cauli cheese and a jacket ... currently trying to talk myself into being bothered ::)
Nope didn't manage it - Covered it with S&S sauce and served with plain white rice.
-
Basa fillet with lemon pepper crumbs, with peas, boiled potato and side salad.
-
All this talk of lamb ... I've fetched out some of the froze slice leg from the other week for tonight. Mash rather than roasties to soak up the spoon standing, mint sauce and also so I don't have to chase the peas around the plate. :nowink:
Would love some crumble and custard for pudding - but I don't see it happening ::)
-
I only went in for some milk and my paper, but Mr Co op was just reducing a nice big steak and ale pie, that'll do nicely, thank you - peas and French beans ftf will go with it :) Today and tomorrow sorted!
-
Sausages new pots and veg broccoli carrots and peas fried onion and thick gravy. No pud now until the weekend :)
-
Heavy day at the shop today, arrived at 9am to find two lorries waiting to unload! One was timber and the other was dustbins, incinerators and other odds and ends that we'd ordered. The third one turned up at mid-day and was our garden plastics delivery, water butts, compost bins and garden pots. The last one was just shoved in the barn out the back and will be sorted tomorrow. SO, tonights dinner is chicken kiev and chips, both kindly reduced by Mr. Co-op and not requiring much effort from anyone.
-
Soddages, mash and fried onions (I had not forgotten that idea)
I will find something green to put on the plate and some spoon standing might make an appearance :)
-
Hard day out in the cold working in the garden so it's pizza and brown things out of the freezer tonight.
-
Homemade fish & chips with mushy peas out of a tin
-
Spicy chicken strips with veg rice  NO PUD
Home made fish and chips tomorrow NO mushy peas, proper peas
-
I didn't fancy the rest of the pie, so it went in the freezer ;)
I had lamb kofta kebabs and a Greek chopped salad with Feta.
-
Vegetable fried rice and a pork and tofu braised dish with garlic and chilli. Can’t remember the name as I scribbled it down in a notebook while watching a show on TV and didn’t record the title ::)
-
Chicken rogan josh & rice.
-
The last of the roast lamb in a pressure cooker stew with mash plus dumplings for him
-
CBA tonight and just nuked a spud.

Curry munchies have struck.
I have a chicken saag planned and a dhal, plus there are popodoms and yogurt on standby :D
-
Homemade pizzas as we found a pack of salami, chorizo and ham in the freezer along with a bag of frozen mozzerella ready grated. Quick and easy. Salad and coleslaw on the side.
-
More reduced lamb from the Co op, today, so some of that grilled with a Greek/Feta salad and a few wedges :)
I've even got a bottle of Mavrodaphne to open - that should really cheer me up
-
Curry Munchies :tongue2: - best I could do though was a frozen pizza.
Sawhedges, mash and onion spoonstanding tonight, I might also do some mashed carrots to free up space in the freezer as it needs defrosting again, chunky mixed veg as always because you have to eat from all the colour groups ;)
-
Lasagne, salad and garlic bread. That's the last of last year's tomatoes used up (Passatta) and finished off the salad. We will soon be able to see the bottom of the little chest freezer soon! :D
-
Got distracted by the thought of cheesey garlic bread, I know it's not a proper meal but ... well cheese makes everything better.
Have to do the sawhedges tonight instead.
-
Its home made cheese and onion pasties new potatoes and baked beans tonight jezza
-
After much thought we are going with hot sausage sandwiches and a bottle of red.
-
Meatballs in tomato sauce (HG tomatoes FTF) with butternut squash 'spaghetti' :)
-
Since we forgot to take the salmon out of the freezer til we got home at lunchtime we opted to use up tge other 2 breasts of chicken that got roasted yesterday into a hotpot & very welcome it was too after a busy morning at the plot, poly tunnelling,& then scavenging woodchip & then potting on tomatoes .
-
Bolognese tonight, white wine to follow (gift from a neighbour who doesn't understand that red wine is the superior drink ;) )
-
Sawhedge , beans and chips - cos I'm a child :nowink:
-
chicken breast strips with stir-fry veg and sweet chilli sauce :)
-
Dinner and movie night with the good lady this evening, sea bass fillets, garlic & lemon marinated prawns, roasted finely diced Mediteranean vegetables and cous cous mix and asparagus.
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou was the movie of choice and great it was too.
-
I've started to do lunch rather than dinner lately, to break the day up as much as anything.
What a mess I made of things today  A handful of oven chips, a few mushrooms, some garlic bread, half a can of beans and some cauli/brocc cheese, an eclectic mix to use up the fridge/freezer gravel but covered all of the food colours. It would have been passable if it hadn't have been served as individual items across the space of an hour, grazed on whilst standing at the oven waiting for the next item to be ready.
I'm pretty sure I used to be a capable adult ::) I appear to be broken. :nowink:
-
Piri Piri half chicken, fries, onion rings and battered mushrooms.
-
Beef mince, onion, swede, peas, sweetcorn with Greek herbs and spices - served over green beans ftf :)

-
Chinese style pork loin steaks, stir-fry veg and rice. Mainly freebies from work - pork steaks mislabelled somehow, no idea why but not saleable for some reason, veg was sugar snap peas, baby corn, spring onions and some tender stem broccoli that was reduced but did not sell. Menu sort of wrote itself :)
-
Lamb hotpot
-
Pork steak with barbecue sauce and roast butternut wedges with peas, carrots, sweetcorn and beans mix of veg.
-

-
Last night was was smoked salmon and pea risotto, tonight is fish, chips and mushy peas.
-
Fish in lemon/pepper breadcrumbs with peas and mash, salad bits on the side.

CBA fairy is in town, but I am hungry :tongue2:

-
She can sniff out a tired gardener in spring from a thousand paces ... or maybe flutters
Not sure what she's doing down there - she'd already had dinner at my place ::)
More piggy today, I really should make some yellow frizbees but CBA - I need to have a rethink of the menu for the rest of the week as Snazbods were apparently all out of pasta (and bottled water) again for the 3rd week running  - yeah right.
-
Roast chicken & potatoes, carrots, peas & freshly harvested cauliflower with gravy for us & no doubt a bowl of stuffing for himself.

-
Stir-fried pork and broccoli with noodles.

I’ve taken out the last of our half lamb- neck & breast. So that’s destined for the slow cooker & will either become a stew, hotpot or shepherds pie I suppose, but I like Wighty’s idea of harissa, but not sure himself will agree, his food choices get plainer the more he ages
-
Lamb steak, roast lemon potatoes and a Greek salad 8) Hopefully the sun to go with it :D
-
Husband returned from shops with steak from the reduced section(his second home). So it's steak, chips and peas, with a compulsory glass of red wine.

Some greedy guts at 2 piggy dinners on Wednesday  leaving nothing but Frozen pizza for last night - bleugh I've forgotten how bad they could be.
I have all day to think of something nice for tonight and when I fail there's always fish fingers and chips.
-
Tried these yet Lardman?
https://www.pataks.co.uk/products/spice-pastes/madras-paste-pot
I used a madras one last night mixed with yoghurt to marinate some chicken, then grilled it on skewers. It was not at all bad. I guess it should have been a tikka one but our local Co-op did not run to that.
We had spinach and sweet potato dhal and naan with it.
-
H/M Chilli con carne with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette, tomorrow roast chicken breast with all the trimmings and Apple sponge for pud, just incase i forget to look in

-
Tried these yet Lardman?
https://www.pataks.co.uk/products/spice-pastes/madras-paste-pot
Not tried the pataks stuff for ages, although I remember the madras in a tin being pretty good. I'll slap one on the shopping list. It's the supermarket chicken that's the problem it all tastes likes rancid butter to me. I'm not sure if its the preservative or "added water" but it's ruining all my quick curry and spicy noodle stuff.
-
Spicy fishcakes with vegetable rice pud rest of Apple sponge with ??? :)
-
I fancy sausages, onion and mash today :D
-
Cottage pie and veg, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Mince cooked with onions and HG tomatoes ftf, with carrots, swede and peas.

Mystery Meat tomorrow - could be pork, could be chicken it's not labelled at it's all looks the same when it's been in the freezer an unhealthy amount of time. Cauli cheese as it goes with either and it's about time to nuke a spud.

Chicken and vegetable stir-fry for me :)
-
Oooohhh pie. I didn't get the chance to do any apple pies this year :(
I was going to do cauli cheese, jacket spud and a chicken kiev. I did the cauli cheese and ran out of steam. It's a bit late now, I don't feel like it and I hate to waste food by eating it when I don't want it IYKWIM.
-
Leftover roast beef in gravy with wedges, mash, carrots, b.beans for himself & cauliflower & broccoli for me
-
I've done a big pan of veggie rice so that should last a few days.
Tonight it's going with that chicken kiev, cauli cheese and a few mushys and I have a few spoons of beans in the fridge which have been hanging around.
-
Fish pie x 2, 1or tonight & 1 for the freezer :)
-
The plotholder I just started helping said ‘take anything you want’. So my roasted Quorn chunks, mashed swede and mushroom gravy were embellished with some beautiful succulent Brussels sprout flower sprouts (which to my mind are much tastier now than when they are little balls) and finished off with rhubarb and custard. I simmered vanilla pods in the soya milk first because custard powder just doesn’t taste of anything nowadays. It was deliciously good payment for 3 hours of grubbing out nettles and buttercups!
-
quick and easy meal tonight been busy all day Turkey burgers chips and beans, pineapple and yoghurt for pud. :)
-
Same as yesterday: the other chicken kiev, veggie rice, cauli cheese and some mushys. Put some sawhedges in the oven at the same time so they're done for tomorrow, and there's rice and cauli cheese left.

Chicken breast out of the freezer for tomorrow, I bought some of that patak stuff Shoots recommended - no pressure.
-

You can always nuke a spud if you hate it ;)
Stir fried noodles with prawns and veg for me today.

I did a fresh loaf this afternoon and I've been cutting slices and covering in real butter since - not sure I can manage a proper meal this evening. ::) What is it with freshly made warm bread ?
-
Got a load of mushrooms free from work yesterday, plus some baby corn, so we had stir-fry with chicken.
Have either had quick cook meals or late night snacks after getting home from work for too many days now. I feel a proper dinner coming on with potatoes and spoon standing :)
-
Lamb mince and a packet of mixed veg (mangetout, Broccoli and mini corn) stir fried in curry spices with a small coriander & garlic naan :)

Lardy, I love reading your menu, they sound so like mine ! Tonight I have a scotch egg and tiny boiled potatoes. Done enough spuds for tomorrow, but what shall I have with them ? Mrs B
-
Lardy, I love reading your menu, they sound so like mine !
My menu is a product of cooking for one, being too preoccupied with other things and a general CBA attitude to food at the moment. I should hope you eat better than I do, you should eat better than I do !
Something bland and milk based today - probably mac'n'cheese
-
No Lardy, I don't. Today I accomplished a wish of many months for fish and chips. I dont know why because
I loathe fish to the point of feeling ill. But there you go, I bought Huss and Chips. On the plate, the smell was revolting, pick at a few bits and some chips, threw the entire lot away, and walked down to rubbish bin half a mile away, and in it went. Thats taught me, I am a silly old fool. Now eaten a large slice of banana cake and half a scotch egg. Probably eat a bowl of cheesy nibbles later ::) So no, I am terrible, just totally lazy about food. No point for one person. Mrs B
-
I know what you mean about fish and chips - the smell is glorious but I've given up eating them too, but I doubt I could have binned them. I could repeat some of things Mother Lard has said to me about eating properly but it would be hypocritical :(
I am terrible, just totally lazy about food. No point for one person. Mrs B
I had a similar conversation with one of Mother Lards carers when asked if I now had time to do "nice" meals for myself like I did for Mother Lard.
-

I'll try again today as I really should eat something from the green food group.
-
Finally got around to having time to cook a Sunday lunch yesterday. Oh well, only 3 days late
Roast lamb (reduced half leg joint from work), roast spuds, braised red cabbage from the freezer and some greens, plus spoon standing :)
-
Chicken schnitzels with garlic, lemon and parsley potatoes. A recipe I cut out the paper, it's also a weight-watchers recipe but it won't be followed exactly as I only have full fat mayo, full fat oil etc. :D
-
Ham hash with peas and cherry toms.
-
Sausages new pots and fresh veg, pineapple and yoghurt :) Husband is already asking what are we having Saturday I said i haven't got there yet :D
-
Husband is already asking what are we having Saturday...
When I used to ask questions like that I got "Whatever you're making." as a reply.
What I thought was a bag of spuds turned out to be a bag of onions and I'm spudless  which has kind of messed with my dinner plans. Rice, noodles or pasta just don't go with gravy
-
More vegetable curry for me & ftf some beef in gravy for himself with mash
-
What I thought was a bag of spuds turned out to be a bag of onions and I'm spudless  which has kind of messed with my dinner plans. Rice, noodles or pasta just don't go with gravy
Get some Aunt Bessies roasties in the freezer, for these sudden emergencies - just like me
-

Get some Aunt Bessies roasties in the freezer, for these sudden emergencies - just like me
Unfortunately her stuff disagrees with me. :( I've tried the roasties and the chips already.
I will definitely be doing some emergency mash when I've done my shopping. When I was having spuds delivered weekly by the milkman it was never an issue but I'm buying them from the supermarket now and it's shocking how many I actually use.

I have curry muchies. There are no spud and I had pasta yesterday so it's a rice day anyway. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. Not sure what I'll be currying yet though ::)
-
Sausages, with Sainsburys Frozen Mashed Potato. Always got this in the freezer as a standby.
-
There's a lamb and lentil curry in the slow cooker, that should warm me up a bit
-
Fish pie ftf, hg asparagus (plenty coming now) & any other veg we can muster

Sea Bass and a Greek salad.
-
Cottage pie, red cabbage and peas. It's blooming freezing and blowing a gale.
-
Fish for me and steak with a pepper and mushroom sauce for Paul. Saute potatoes as we had some left over from a previous meal that needed using up. First thing I've eaten all day as I just haven't been hungry. Had my second jab yesterday and am having the same reaction as I did last time just a few hours later!
-
Late pizza yesterday and an uncomfortable night because of it. Someone remind me eating after 9 isn't a good idea any more.
Shopping delivered yesterday so it's cottage pie tonight and I'll make some extra emergency freezer mash. ;)
-
Fish, chips & mushy peas, al hm apart from the peas
-
Chicken and mushroom pie with peas and wedges.
-
I'll make some extra emergency freezer mash. ;)
I like the idea of emergency mash. There are not many situations that can’t be made better with mash and some spoon standing
Tonight for us was chicken thighs made into stir-fry and some rice. I got asparagus, spring onions, tender stem broccoli and some mushrooms from work (unsold reduced stuff) so it made sense of a bit of a mash-mash of stuff.
-
Another good standby in the freezer we find is homemade croquette potatoes, they’re a faff to make so ideal to make a big batch, they’re also nice with dry packet stuffing mix to replace the breadcrumbs, does that appeal Lard? We tend to use up the last of a sack of spuds like that.
Tonight we’ve got some bought ham that needs using & some roast chicken so chicken & ham pie it is with a topping of bought puff pastry - really must make my own, just for himself though as I’ve given up on pastry. I buy the sheets & cut it to size & freeze it but I could do the same with homemade :nowink:
-

Sounds great if you're making them for me  I've failed in the past with them as I don't fry things and doing them in the oven just doesn't give good results, I'll try again as the stuffing crust sounds yummy.
There was a mash related incident yesterday - so I will need to do some more for the freezer  when I make tonight's dinner with the level over mince.
-
Not the weather for it today, but the beans spouts need to be used. Mushroom chow mein with a goodly amount of chilli.
-
Soddages with bubble and squeak :D
-
Wedding anniversary tonight, so It's a swanky dinner for the good lady!
Stuffed steak pinwheel with spinach, chestnut mushroooms and gruyere cheese, with homemade pasta with a roasted red pepper, tomato and cream sauce.

Roast beef and gravy ftf, roast potatoes, roast courgettes, peas, broccoli, carrots & hg asparagus
-
Cajun spiced chicken cooked in a bag, lemon roast potatoes and salad.
-
Need to use up the fridge gravel today, with either noodles or pasta. Assuming the weather hold, a light lunch with potentially the first salad things from the GH and then some spag bol sauce in the slow cooker for later.
-
We went out for Chinese last night it was lovely and well organized, needless tonight something light scotch egg and salad :)
-
Smoked haddock tonight so I think risotto should be about right, usually I make it & use peas but as I harvested 14 spears of asparagus this morning, I think I’ll use some of that today
-
Coronation chicken and salad, might add a small jacket spud - I'll see how hungry I am :)
-
Nuked a spud added spag bol sauce and cheese. Green leafy from the GH, but I will need a better variety of stuff for it to be called a salad.
-
We are going out for a meal at our local pub tonight. I'm rather fancying Bangers and Mash washed down with Draught Old Speckled Hen! 8)
-
Enjoy plot 6B
Salmon parcel with veg rice ,still on light meals getting over bank holiday :D

Steak, new pots, asparagus and salad. Yellow sticker section in T@@co.
-

-
Grilled halloumi and a traybake of veg including new potatoes, beans and courgettes. Courgettes were a freebie from work yesterday. OH went quite pale thinking I had got the allotment plants going already
-
Nipper's choice tonight to go to a popular sushi chain restaurant. He liked it, I had to make a bacon and egg sandwich when I got home.
-
That's one adventurous nipper P1P - you'd be hard pressed to get me anywhere near sushi, even now.
I have a lump of piggy - I was going to slow cook with peppers / tomatoes etc but I'm seriously considering a roast piggy dinner :tongue2: as comfort food.
-
Grilled halloumi and a traybake of veg including new potatoes, beans and courgettes. Courgettes were a freebie from work yesterday. OH went quite pale thinking I had got the allotment plants going already

-
Well, I got up this morning thinking it was Friday, so got sea Bass from the freezer to defrost for tea.
I've since realised that it's only Thursday, but never mind I love Bass whichever day I eat it on
Salad and lemon potatoes to go with it, I think :)
-
I shall be having that tomorrow mums, tonight we had ham and cheese omelette with new pots and peas, banana and ice cream :)
-
Some breaded cod (Like tuna I don't class it as fish :nowink: ) going with mustard mash and veggies.
-
As I ate the Bass yesterday ::) I'm going for sausage, mash and spoon-standing, with whatever freezer veg I fancy at the time.
-
Sea Bass fillet with a few chips and peas not sure about pud :)
-
Last night was pasta bake and I have another one lurking in the fridge for a second meal, but we want something different tonight and the CBA fairy has arrived with a flutter and a crash landing thunk.
OH has suggested a takeaway and I am not arguing
-
Both of us under the weather today so baked trout on top of potatoes & Onions layered & cooked in stock with peas, carrots, cauliflower & asparagus. Easy meal but tasty
-
Hope your feeling better snowdrops
Sweet and sour Chicken with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette :)

-
Hope your feeling better snowdrops
Sweet and sour Chicken with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette :)
Thanks Mrs Pea, not feeling too great still unfortunately so today was potato wedges & fried chicken with salad.
-
not feeling too great still unfortunately
There appears to be a lot of something going around at the moment :( Chicken soup and bed rest time?
I'm considering some roast lamb ftf , mash and veggies or a massive pile of scrambled eggs on toast- it's comfort food weather. :tongue2:
-
I found a couple of thick cuts of lamb rump, welded together in the freezer, so they're defrosting. Think I'll go full roast dinner, this evening, despite the heat :)
-
Hope you feel better today Snowdrop. Your easy meal sounded hardwork to me !! After lugging the very heavy leaf vac round the garden and getting filthy and dusty. I couldn't be bothered, so it was cheese on toast with Dijon mustard spread on before the cheese. Now thats easy 8) Mrs Bouquet
-
Ahh yes Mrs B cheese on toast would have been a tad easier but there was a packet of chicken fillets in tge fridge & hubby did that & the wedges so a salad was all that was required of me.
Today I’ve made carrot & coriander soup for lunch for me that hubby turned his nose up & we’ve decided on a pressure cooker stew with the braising steak I took out last night, that should be easy enough what’d yah reckon plus there might be enough for 2 days as usual. By then a trip to the shops might be in order for fresh supplies :)
-
I couldn't be bothered, so it was cheese on toast with Dijon mustard spread on before the cheese.
A Lard approved dinner :D
Also works with wholegrain mustard or Worcestershire sauce and for when you're feeling really down - bovril. ;)
-
Mince and onion slice new pots broccoli carrots and gravy, pud Blackberry and Apple crumble and ice cream :D
-
Beef chilli wraps and roasted veggies.
-
Pork chops, new potatoes and roasted med veg. Smells lovely. I have overdosed though on Island cherries from the farm at Godshill who sell them at the farm gate.
-
I have overdosed though on Island cherries from the farm at Godshill who sell them at the farm gate.
I am with you on that one. If I had anything like that near me I would look like a cherry by now
I got called into work unexpectedly this morning - 1 minute loafing with a coffee, next dashing around to get ready and get in as the manager that morning had walked into carnage. Tea ended up as burgers, fries and onion rings from work, plus some hm coleslaw. I have bought cherries home as well as a treat for later. I bet they won’t be half as nice as yours Wighty, but any cherries are better than no cherries in my book ;)
-
I have overdosed though on Island cherries from the farm at Godshill who sell them at the farm gate.
2 tree and if for 4 years (could be more) I've never manged to get a single cherry - I'm informed by the local wildlife they're very nice though. :nowink:
Might try again with the lamb today, I was pushed for time yesterday and ended up with the scrambled eggs. It's time I had something from the green food group and there's a savoy looking sorry for itself in the fridge.
-
Spaghetti bolognase with whole wheat pasta piece of baghette, blackberry and apple crumble and yoghurt :)
-
More of the same pressure cooked stew for us can’t be bothered people tonight.
-
The rest of the roasted med veg, aubergine, courgette, red pepper, tomatoes and fennel. Have found some garlic bread at the bottom of the little freezer to go with. We were going to put some pasta in the mix put we are both tired.
-
Chicken breast in a spicy breadcrumb mix with a bowl of salad.
-
The CBA's hit hard yesterday - ended up with a ready meal around 10pm. Tuna pasta bake or mac'n'cheese with tuna today I always struggle with the veggie side when doing anything with pasta.
-
Yesterday Hot chilli burger with a mixed salad and a few chips, pineapple and ice cream, today sausages and mash with peas and gravy rest of pineapple and yoghurt for pud :)
-
The other half of yesterday’s cottage pie that hubby made, with some steamed asparagus & a leftover portion of salad that needs using up for me. Both still not very interested in preparing or eating that much, maybe our waistlines will benefit
-
Lamb Rogan Josh which has been in the slow cooker all day so when we came home the house smelt lovely. Rice, poppodoms for me and Naan for Paul.
-
Went to an NGS garden with a friend, then to the cafe on the Beach. So dinner was a Danish and a pot of tea. May have a marmite sandwich later. Lovely.
-
HM Lasagna with salad bits for me :D
-
I've been tied up with work in the garden all day so it's pizza night tonight.
-
Grilled mackerel fillets, veggie rice and some crusty bread. There was not much leftover rice, so it was more veg than anything and a bit of a carb boost was needed.
-
Cajun chicken dish with pilua rice, banana ice cream choc sauce and nuts :)
-
What I thought was a portion of chilli ftf, but turned out to be beef stew with dumplings
It still went down a treat though,
-
Hm cod & chips with peas
-
Nuked a spud yesterday. It's about time to do something rice based - probably chilli assuming the mince defrosts in time.
Hm cod ...
The thought of "Home Made" cod always makes me chuckle
-

Yes I thought that after I’d posted it, but you know what I mean
Hubs & I have just decided we’ll have a chicken hotpot type thing tonight as neither of us are still very interested much tbh, he asked if we’d got any chorizo, so I’ve had a freezer dive & found a few slices destined for pizza, so that’ll perk it up a bit & maybe our tastebuds too :D
-
Sea Bass is defrosting and I'll have it with a Greek-style Feta salad :)
-
Turkey burger chips and bean tonight, made a fish pie for tomorrow something different it looks and smells good i nearly changed my mind and had it tonight
-
Chicken burger and salad. OH out and I have been gardening all afternoon and into the evening, so that was the best effort I could muster. I also had a choc ice for pud :)
-
I should stop posting in a morning as what's for tea turns out to never be what was planned for tea ::) Trying again to make a chilli for tonight, but I've got a serious case of the CBA's already today
-
Lardy, what is the CBA's ?
-

-
A few days by the sea, a first for 18 months and a meal at an Italian restaurant.
-
The last 5 posts have made me deeply envious
We had pasta with prawns in a tomato sauce, followed by raspberries from the freezer set in jelly, fresh strawberries from the garden, ice-cream and a bit of squirty cream just because we could. So I actually did alright, just like the sound of all yours better :tongue2:
-
Pork pie and a mixed salad, Apple and rhubarb crumble with natural yoghurt :)
-
Chinese spice Stir fry of pork strips and veg.
-
Found some brioche buns on offer during the last shop so I'll be putting something on those today with green leafy stuff from the GH. Just picked some rhubarb so that'll be enjoying the company of some custard as a special treat too.
-
Toad in the hole with fresh veg, rest of crumble and ice cream for pud :)
-
Oven baked plaice, with boiled potatoes, broccoli, carrots & hg asparagus

-
I've picked some rhubarb as well, Lardy
I picked it, I stewed it, I CBA to eat it.... I'll try again today.
It was supposed to be pouring down today and the plan was for sawhedge, mash and a cabbage covered in spoonstanding but it's bright sunny and warm ::) I don't want to stand in the kitchen cooking in this heat so plan b is a nuked spud with tuna/mayo or beans.
-
I have plans for some D---io Tomato and Basil sauce for meatballs, as it is now exactly 1 year old. I thought I might heat it and pour over wholewheat pasta. Somebody said it is better for one. Hope I like it, never eaten it before. ! Mrs B
-
Bassa fillets in lemon & herb breadcrumbs with potato & chives in olive oil dressing, plus whatever salad bits left in the fridge. (I must go shopping soon.....)
-
I have plans for some D---io Tomato and Basil sauce for meatballs
Mutti passata and basil in a glass bottle is worth checking out for lazy pasta pouring. Glass jars so you can use as little as you need for a meal and reseal. ;) Much better than other brands I've tried. Available in snasbods, ocado and probably elsewhere.
-
Gammon steaks, new potato and broad bean salad with homegrown ingredients and some asparagus :)
-
Lamb chops, mash, fresh broad beans, carrots & asparagus
-
The rest of the potato and broad bean salad, asparagus and mangetout peas and some grilled fish. It felt really summery :D

-
Dunno for tonight I’m going out for dinner with friends 😀 first time since goodness knows when, I’ve lost track
-
the last two cooked chicken drumsticks from a pack of six. with beans and salad.
-
Started a lamb and dhal curry this morning and it has blipped away in the oven for about 3 hours. Now smelling heavenly and cooling in the kitchen.
I have made a huge pot full so I have some tubs of it to freeze. I will add veg for the batch we eat tonight and to subsequent freezer batches as used :)
-
The 'other' person who lives in our house volunteered to get some bacon out of the freezer as he 'knew' exactly where it was. He took several other things out while he was digging around and I found them this morning still on the side where he'd forgotten to put them back. ::) So tonight will be salmon en croute with new potatoes and carrots.
-
I found a chicken curry in the freezer, so that's what I've had, with stir-fry veg rather than rice though :)
-
Take away tonight Chicken Dansak :D
-
Fish in parsley sauce, mash, peas and broccoli.

We had the curry I planned yesterday tonight instead :)

I'd highly recommend the double raspberry one as well, but that wouldn't be helping, would it
-
You lot gave me curry munchies and I was forced to have a chicken jalfrezi ready meal yesterday. Spud nuking time tonight with beans as the CBA fairy has put half a can in the fridge again :nowink: and cauli cheese if I can find enough in the mixed veg packet.
-
Spicy chicken strips with vegetable rice, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Gammon, new potatoes, french beans and cabbage :)
-
meatballs with the rest of last night's sauce watered down with some stock, pasta and garlic bread. Filling but not what we really wanted. We were expecting a chicken and chorizo casserole with garlic and parsley dumplings which I'd planned but then we found out it needed cooking for about three hours. We don't get home until 4.30 (earliest) and we like a bit of 'me time' before we go into what we have to do. I don't work on Thursdays so it will be tomorrows dinner instead.
-

HM lamb curry last night with wilted plot greens stirred in when reheating it, plus rice, chutneys and some poppadum. I had done a 4.5 hour stint on the plot yesterday and the poppadum called to me when I stopped at the shop on the way home
-
I had meatballs cooked in tomato sauce with mozarella cheese and parmesan shavings. A small portion of fresh spaghetti and green beans.
-
Stone baked pizza last night, tonight I had chicken in honey/mustard sauce with coleslaw and a jacket spud.
I had the last Magnum for pud :)
-
Sausage and mash with onion gravy and red cabbage, strawberries from the garden.
-
I cooked my ultimate carb-fest today, saved for depressing days like today.
Home made Lasagne al forno, cooked to Mary Contini's recipe :)
-
Good for you mums you shouldn't be depressed !
We have sausages mash and peas and gravy, raspberries and strawberries from the garden for pud, first real pickings :)
-
Spag bol :)
-
It appears the board had my post yesterday for tea (either that or I pressed preview and not post ::) )
I feel the need for something covered in spoonstanding today, nothing prepared so it will have to be mince (I think I have some pork), mash, stuffing, cabbage and some mixed veg to free some freezer space up.
-
The half a Quiche from yesterday. I should have gone shopping today but C.B.B. It will be half a small tin of b.beans, a little bit of lettuce and two tiny plum tomatoes.
-
More of the same from yesterday, I have missed a nice bit of cabbage. The burning question being ... as I intentionally cooked 2 meals yesterday am I having leftovers tonight or not  ?
-
Red pepper stuffed with mince and rice plus a green bean salad :)
-
For a complete change we had scampi chips and peas went down a dream then for pud i made Eaton Mess with H/G strawberries and yoghurt :D
-
as I intentionally cooked 2 meals yesterday am I having leftovers tonight or not  ?
You are (1) being really organised by cooking in advance or (2) being really virtuous and eating up what you have without wasting food. Win/win either way in my book.
Minted lamb leg steak here (freebie from work) with veggie rice. Actually the rice was a leftover fried back up with veg, so as I deliberately cooked more than I needed was I planning ahead … or … fridge delving for leftovers ???
-
Last minute change of appointment for the good lady's second jab yesterday meant all plans were scuppered. A visit to Mcdonalds thus ensued and it was good. Oh so, so good.
-
Dansak curry from the freezer tonight :)
-
Pork chop and bubble and squeak (made with a bolting cabbage from the plot! ::) )
-
Leftover cold roast lamb, 2nd steaming of accord hg potatoes (delicious) hg-peas,carrots,cabbage, & donated broad beans, gravy & gooseberry & mint jelly
-
Jacket potatoes, tuna and cheese for me, Paul made a bean, mushroom and some pork ribs that he found in the freezer.
-
Nuked a spud yesterday as I had a serious case of the CBA. It's probably time for some pasta again today, mac-n-cheese I think.
-
Last night was chicken casserole ftf with mixed veg also ftf, so didn't take much effort, or time :)
-
Spicy fish cake with vegetable rice, fresh fruit from gardenb with ice cream :)
-
Basa fillet with peas, potato and parsley sauce. Greek yogurt, walnuts and honey after ;)
-
Chicken parmigiana, with a tomato & garlic sauce & pasta with a goodly amount of Parmesan
Strawberries & yogurt
-
Curry, rice, poppadums and naan. I started to eat the roast chicken dinner last night and after about five mouthfuls admitted I couldn't eat any more. Don't know why, but I really didn't want it.
-
Home alone and after a big project today so I planned ahead. Cooked cold chicken and pre-prepared salad from the fridge, plus a couple of whole meal pittas that just needed chucking in the oven for 5 minutes to warm through.
The project was to replace the liner on my small wildlife pond, so tea was a little late, owing to the time needed to de-swamp
-
Stressful day and by the time I thought about food it was after 21:30 and CBA had set in. I'll try again tomorrow ::)
-
I stir-fried onion, sliced sugar-snap peas, bacon bits, garlic and mushrooms and when cooked I stirred in some Philadelphia garlic& herb cheese and tipped it over some spaghetti :D
Lovely!
-
When I've tried doing that sort of thing MoS the philly has split when I've added milk to thin it  are you just heating it neat?
Nuked a spud and added so some poor man's boursin :nowink: too. I really need to eat something green tomorrow.
-
When I've tried doing that sort of thing MoS the philly has split when I've added milk to thin it  are you just heating it neat?
Yes, it thins as it melts :)
-
Kiddie tea last night - fish fingers, chips and peas.
Was pretty good. I’ve not eaten fish fingers for ages and you forget how nice they are :)
-
Kiddie tea last night - fish fingers, chips and peas.
Sold ! and it's even got something green with it. It is Friday after all :D
-
I always think I would like a fish finger, but do they taste of fish, Do they make the same in chicken ?
I have got a Lamb Rogan Josh with all the chutneys etc.
-
Case of the cba fairy here combined with a not working larder fridge has totally changed how we cook & eat & plan! So chicken breasts taken out of the freezer this morning with no real knowledge of what to have, so new potatoes being boiled prior to roasting, then the chicken roasted with peas ready shelled leftover from yesterday & french beans, probably with mayo, & as hubby is doing it who am I to argue.
-
Steak dinner tonight with giant mushrooms topped with cheese, grilled tomato and CHIPS!
-
I HATE Mushrooms
Bass fillet fried few chips and peas, home grown rhubarb and ice cream :)
-
I always think I would like a fish finger, but do they taste of fish, Do they make the same in chicken ?
Yes, not very strongly but yes, mildly fishy like battered or breaded fish fillets :)
Birds Eye chicken fingers are available ;)
-
I buy jumbo fish fingers, you get more fish with the breadcrumbs :D
It was a cba tea, so I had a jacket potato with beans and a couple of bacon rashers :)
-
I HATE Mushrooms
Is it the taste or texture thing? I used to really dislike them but it turned out just to be the way they were being cooked.
I always think I would like a fish finger, but do they taste of fish
I don't like fish either but most supermarkets do their own brand chilled jumbo cod ones and I buy them occasionally (when on offer :nowink: ) , they're much better than the boxed "fish" fingers far less fishy.
-
I shall look for the chicken ones. Cannot abide fish, not even the smell. Got to go for my Click and Collect in 30 mins, so dinner will be whatever I fancy out of the bags.
-
Fish fingers are one of my 'comfort' foods. I have them in sandwiches or with chips and peas for tea. Always with brown sauce of course. The 'Captains' are my favourites although I will eat others. I have even made my own. For tonight I've been told we're having chicken kiev and chips.
-
Chicken is defrosting for a Korma :D
-
Soddages :)
Got new potatoes and veg from the plot to go with. Perhaps a tray bake :D
-
Food again? sigh what a drag. It's probably time for pasta again, doing something with rice feels like too much effort.
-
Pork steak roasted with potatoes, onions, peppers and tomatoes, plus a few green beans.
For my weekend treat I cooked a sponge top over some plot raspberries :D
-
Bacon and mushroom club sandwich. I'm going to suffer for it but it was oh so very tasty :tongue2:
-
Jacket potato with leftover mince & onion, sprinkle of cheese, tomatoes & hg cucumber & beetroot
-
Roast chicken, new roast potatoes and veg.
-
After the most distressing day today we just having salad and cold meats lets hope tomorrows better :(
-

Fingers crossed for you MrsP.
I'm having chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs, bubble and squeak ftf, plus salad bits :D
-
After the most distressing day today we just having salad and cold meats lets hope tomorrows better :(
Hope you’re ok Mrs P
Neck of lamb cooked & then made into a lovely stew, dumplings for himself.
-
Basa in lemon/pepper crumbs with chips and mixed veg ftf.
-
Chilli con carne. We have experimented tonight and used Quorn mince. Couldn't taste any difference. Even Paul who is true carnivore said he would eat it again. Result! I've been asking for ages to be allowed to try it.
-
Fish cakes with melting cheese centres (bought) plus plot veg and spuds.
-
Chilli con carne. We have experimented tonight and used Quorn mince. Couldn't taste any difference. Even Paul who is true carnivore said he would eat it again. Result! I've been asking for ages to be allowed to try it.
Even I don't mind Quorn, it's one of the more acceptable (for me anyway) vegetarian options :D
-
Today i fanced a fry up bacon sausage tomato and a few bake beans, to finish of with strawberries and raspberries from the garden with yoghurt, it was a lovely change naughty but nice :D
-
Sawhedge and a few of those big mushrooms, it looked a bit sad on the plate so I nuked a spud and added beans. It's one of those meals that was begging out for cauliflower cheese but I didn't feel like picking the bits out of a bag of mixed veg to make it.
-
HM meatballs in tomato sauce with HG Sugar Ann peas :)
-
Curry Munchies .... Use up that other patak's paste pot. There's probably some chicken in the freezer.
-
I watched This Morning on Tuesday and repeated the recipe they made last night. Didn't work quite right so we've 'tweeked' it tonight as some elements weren't strong enough, or weren't cooked for long enough. So tonight we are having our version of harissa chicken with butter beans and green beans, with new potatoes.
-
Bacon, egg and bubble & squeak :)
-
I have some curry leftovers (I know  ) Might be naughty and put them with wedges :tongue2:
-
Dansak curry out the freezer with pilau rice and popadoms :)
-
When I went for my paper, this morning, Co op had reduced one of their Wood-fired Margherita Pizzas, so I thought - that'll do nicely :D
-
I’ve got mince, onions, garlic, celery, peppers in the slow cooker with some leftover gravy & a tin of chopped tomatoes simmering away. It was going to be cottage pie, but I might turn it into a type of moussaka but with sliced potatoes & (courgettes in my half) lol
-
Scotch Egg and Salad, but I've only got lettuce and tomatoes. :D
-
Omelette as all the chickens not old enough to qualify for their bus passes are now laying again. Potato salad and tomato salad, both made with homegrown veg :)
-
reduced to 50p, crumbed camembert with salad and potato salad. Cheap meal but really filling.
-
Fired up the barbecue, homemade burgers with homemade pesto (too much garlic ;) ) and mozerella.
Big bowl of olives to pick at too. Beer to accompany and wine later for pudding.
-
Pizza, and very yummy it was.
-
Today Cottage pie with fresh veg from garden french beans and carrots, Apple parcels with ice cream :)

-
bbq at daughters at 6.30.
-
Assortment of tapas with some cheese and caramalised red onion topped ciabatta.
-
I'll be nuking a spud when the heat of the day passes. I'll too hot for food especially if it's not already made.
-
Spicy fish cake with vegetable rice, home grown raspberrys with not sure yet :D
-
Pan fried salmon & courgettes, steamed new potatoes (Foremost today, freshly dug this morning) green & yellow beans & carrots with a cheeses sauce
-
A pork chop a la George Forman, HM coleslaw and a small nuked spud.
-
Burgers - in burger buns for OH, just as is for me, plus salad.
The last of the raspberries out of the freezer set into jelly for pud, with some squirty cream because we could
1 pan on the hob was my limit for cooking tonight :)
-
Best I could manage was a corned beef sandwich. I might try doing so pasta and pesto later, I can at least call it a pasta salad then if I just let it sit there until it's cold :nowink: I'm drinking so much water to try and keep hydrated I'm not feeling like eating.
-
Yesterday was the cold pasta with the honemade passatta. Crickey it was HOT !!! and a scotch egg with it.
Today it will be an omelette and salad which is only lettuce and tomato.
-
Another nuked spud, with cheese this time, plus more of the HM coleslaw and cucumber from the greenhouse. Tomatoes from the Co op still, though - never before had cukes ripen before toms. Very weird ::)
-
Cold salmon,HM potato salad and French beans. Ice cream for pud.
-
Called in at my local Chinese/Thai/Japanese cash and carry on the way home from work and bought noodles ready to stir fry, plus mushrooms.
I had some pork steaks at home that I cut up and put in, as well as plot garlic, spring onions and mangetout, with a chilli from the greenhouse for good measure. 10 minutes tops in the wok which was more than enough cooking for today :)
-
Change of plans as there was mince on the use by date in the fridge. Made a chilli but couldn't face eating it, so the plan is to nuke a spud today and add some for a quick no cook meal.
-
Due to the continuing no fridge freezer in the kitchen situation I took oook out a pot of steak & kidney casserole from the garage freezer a couple of days ago to make room for something else  & put it to defrost in the borrowed minute fridge, & today is the day it needs using! Not my ultimate choose for the hottest day of the year so far  but I suppose it’ll be ok with steamed potatoes & veg in a while.
-
I made a couple of big bowls of salads yesterday so they are stashed in the fridge ready - potato salad with plot spuds and a mayo dressing and one of blanched french beans and tomatoes in a oil and vinegar one.
We had those last night with … steak! I spotted some bargains at the Co-op, so a nice rump steak each and it was really good :D
-
It's our first salad today with the full set from the garden...
Sungold toms
Cuce
Lamb's lettuce
American cress
Beetroot
Lettuce
Spring onions
Wild rocket
With a hard-boiled egg and a load of cheese! Possibly a garlic ciabatta too...
And just found the first carrots are big enough too..:0)
-
We’ve just agreed that the chicken breasts will be flattened out & breadcrumbed, a tomato & basil sauce made & served with tagliatelle ala chicken parmigiana style, but without the mozzarella as we haven’t got any lol
-
Now just gratuitously attention seeking because
IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!
-
Fired up the barbecue and grilled two huge steaks (all for me :) ) which had been tenderised and then marinated in orange juice, thyme, parsley and garlic. Best steaks I've ever cooked!
-
Grilled Basa with coleslaw and a few new potatoes (sadly not HG)
-
Stir fry last night, today something easy Faggots pots and fresh veg from garden, Plumb crumble and custard :)
-
Last night was spaghetti with HM meatballs in tom sauce and tonight it's a pork steak with HM coleslaw and salad from the plot, at last some ripe toms :D
-
Roast lamb, roast potatoes, carrots and home grown green beans.
-
After a few hours at the allotment, we went to our Beefeater and had a trio of fish for me on a bed of Spinach and for the wife Chicken Salad. A cheeky Sunday night out. Much enjoyed.
-
Tuna pasta bake. Meh - I'm a little tired of nuked spuds and rice. The lump of piggy taken out of the freezer is destined for the slow cooker tomorrow. :tongue2:
-
Close to bb date cheese (soft cheese and Feta) in the fridge, so I'm making a cheese and spinach (probably chard from the plot) Greek-style pie :D
-
Got a beef joint slowcooking in beer and spices for 10 hours. That will get shredded and soaked in homemade BBQ sauce, served in rolls with peppers & onions.
-
P1P, I went out for a pub lunch with two old school chums from the fifties, last week, They both had 'Beef cheeks', which I've never heard of (wilting violet me) and they looked fantastic on the plate! Anything like?
I had the veggie option - goat's cheese tart, but two pints of Harvey's went down better...
-
Not disimilar growster!
-
Left over lamb from yesterday with a fridge clear out of let over potatoes and veg mashed up and fried in patties. Various pickles served with. Satisfying but the fridge now looks a bit empty. I'm sure it will fill up again soon.
-
Not disimilar growster!
One year, around the end of December, I bought a large joint of salt brisket, and slow cooked it in Guinness for a few hours.
It was just fantastic at the time, but the next time I opened a tin of corned beef, I couldn't tell the difference!
(BTW, Hawkhurst is famous for starting off OXO, corned beef etc, by a bloke called Gunther, who is buried just a few yards from 'The Turrets! Not a lot of people know that)!
-
Slow cooked piggy dinner with all the trimmings - at least that's the plan.
-
Last night Jacket potato with mixed salad and cold meats pud rest of plumb crumble and custard. Tonight fry up husbands idea :)
-
Sweet potato wedges with veggie chilli. Recipe taken from the supplement that comes with the Sunday paper. I'm not that keen on sweet potatoes but we have three in the fridge and it would use at least two of them up so I will ' suffer for my art' I think the saying is.
-
Home made fish pie.
-
Diced beef, tomatoes ftf, kidney beans and HG Cajun Belle peppers (a little hotter than I thought they would be ::)) are all bubbling away in the slow cooker :D
-
Garlic & herb wedges & burgers(no buns) salad for me & tomatoes for him. Apple cake for pud
-
Frittata as the chickens have been on an egg laying drive again. It included plot veg and we had a plot salad on the side :D
-
Spicy chicken strips with vegetable rice, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
I've just counted about fifteen Sungold toms a-ripening, so it may - just may, be a bruschetta tomorrow...
It won't be a big one, so we'll ease ourselves into the race out to the GH first thing, peer around the door, and exclaim in a loud voice ...
YESSSSS!!
-
Frittata, garlic bread and salad.
-
A couple of ham slices, left in the fridge, a cheesy jkt potato with coleslaw and plot peas :D
-
Leftover fish pie. Pork scratchings for pudding.
-
Proper Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, bought back for me by daughter. Wasn't that kind. I shall eat with salad.
-
Shredded beef chilli and rice.
-
In the oven there's a casserole dish of chicken breasts in honey & mustard sauce, plus a traybake of courgette, potato, onion, tomatoes and garlic. It smells lovely :D
-
Proper Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, bought back for me by daughter. Wasn't that kind. I shall eat with salad.
Ooh now there’s a proper treat, the best pork pie there is! I’ve even made one there too
Roast lamb shoulder, steamed new potatoes, beans- green & yellow, roasted courgettes & gravy. Normal service is almost resumed as the new fridge freezer arrived yesterday :)
-
Trying to assemble a piggy dinner - the pork has been sitting in the fridge since I slow cooked it, I've just not felt like eating it. I did some mash earlier today and the pan is on for some veg, everything feels like such hard work though, I have that man flu feeling.
Glad the fridge is sorted Snow - just in time for the produce to start rolling in too ;)
-
Spaghette Bolangnas tonight :)
-

Cheers Lardy, it’s been a tad of a struggle jiggling veg in a cool box with ice packs, tried not to pick too much at one time as I hadn’t really got freezer space. That’s the job for tomorrow, sort out the freezer in the garage & then I can fill the new one with what belongs in there, which will free up space for stashing the surplus vegetables
-
Apparently, Snows, a decent wodge of newspaper around the frozen comestibles works OK for about a quarter of an hour or so.
Our freezer is jammed right up to the gills, as a dear elderly neighbour left, and gave us everything she had left!
Mind you, I've just taken a half-pound of Lurpak out (bought a load - it was on offer), so there's now space for a few joints of beef, half a pig, three gammon joints and a whole lamb...
-

-
Found out what it was DOVER SOLE Beautiful :)
-
Lemon pepper pork steaks with Hassleback potatoes.
-
Hunters chicken, with steamed carrots & hg runner beans, green & yellow french beans.
-
Looking like breaded cod and wedges. I have a serious case of the CBA's and that can all be chucked in the oven at the same time, at the same temperature and for the same length. Beans or mushy peas whatever is first out of the cupboard.
-
Chilli Con Carne with pilua rice and 1/2 a baghette :)
-
CBA today so, Tuna and coleslaw with a cheesy nuked spud :)
-
I’ve had a spicy spag sauce bubbling away in the oven for 3 hours on really low heat, but spent too long smelling it cook and I don’t feel like eating it now :tongue2: It was a bulk batch for the freezer, so just more to freeze.
Home alone tonight and when I went to the shop for milk, they had steak reduced. It would have been rude not to buy some, so that and salad for me :D
-
Lamb hotpot with a medley of hg beans
-
Gammon, egg and CHIIIIIIIIIIPS.
-
Gammon, egg and CHIIIIIIIIIIPS.
There better be a ring of char-grilled pineapple with that ! :tongue2: :tongue2:
... everyone's tea sounds nicer than mine :(

Pineapple? You've gone down in my estimations Lardy...
-
Mrs Growster has a cunning plan for today...
She has always made 'Toad' with steak in a large pan of batter, but the other day, we were chatting about 'finger food' at gatherings, and I just mentioned a few comestibles I often had when I worked for a living, and just HAD to go to alcoholic evening functions for business!
So today's 'Toad' will be in individual tart-sized shapes, as sirloin is easily cut with scissors into small pieces, and I'm starving already...
...plus a pound of runner beans each...;0)
-
Got the curry munchies and Paul makes a mean chicken biryani. Plenty of onion crispies on the top. Yum, yum. Freezer all cleaned out today and we now have a better idea of what is in there for the rest of the week. Just the small chest freezer to go.
-
Got the curry munchies ...
Me too now ::) bit late to get anything out of the freezer though so it's would have to be lentil or spud based.
-
Hunters Chicken dish for us with baby new pots and loads of veg F/Beans carrots peas and broccolli with a BbBq sauce poured all over it went down a treat, with peaches and ice cream for afters :)
-
Pasta bake (yesterday’s pasta sauce that I did not eat), roasted wedges of summer cabbage and french beans.
-
Takeaway curry delivered as we're all lazy today. Enough leftovers that lunch is sorted tomorrow too!
-
Roast chicken, stuffing for himself, Yorkshire puds, steamed hg new potatoes (homeguard- have been great) & hg broad beans, runner & green & yellow beans & spoon standing, oh & roast squash with garlic for me.
-
Pork shoulder steak with mashed swede and green beans ftf, plus HG peas.
-
Pasta day - I don't feel like anything tomato based though. Looks like it's macaroni cheese and there's some chorizo crumb in the freezer. Extra green things tomorrow to compensate.
-
Toad in the hole with new pots carrot and peas, mixture of fruit with ice cream :)
-
Chicken legs roasted with Havana Gold chillies from the greenhouse, plus roasted cubes of Kestrel potatoes and a big pile of french beans, both from the plot :)
-
Lasagne from the Co=op for £1.50 , there's only two of us but Paul likes big portions and I only like small ones so it equals out. It is enougth got us for a second meal another day.
-
I made a fish pie, and there's enough left for tomorrow, I had HG Autumn calabrese with it (just proves that's what the weather is like ::) )
-
Pizza night!
-
It'll be a bought version of a 'Shakshuka' with caulis and aubergines - one which we inherited from a dear neighbour who has moved away!
Never had anything like it before!
-
Pizza night!
Go on put pineapple on it  you know you want to. Actually no don't - bluerggh.
I have chicken defrosting - waiting to see what the weather does to decided if it's getting spiced up or covered in spoon-standing.
Edit : Found some goldfish brand curry sauce skulking at the back fridge - use by date is Jan 2020 but I figure there really not a lot to go off in it. Chinese style chicken curry it is then :tongue2:
-
Tonight I must have something hot. Shop bought spag bol in microwave with salad on the side.
-
Full English Breakfast for us tonight.
-
Turkey burger chips and beans, rest of pineapple left over from last night with yoghurt. :)
-
Soddages in a tray bake with plot veg and some oven roasted small whole spuds.

The other chicken breast, there's some shop bought "mash direct" cauliflower cheese (remind me not to buy that again) and spuds probably mashed with some whole grain mustard.
-
Chicken stir fry, banana and yoghurt for pud :)
-
Meat balls in tomato/chilli sauce, not sure whether to have mash or spaghetti with them :)
-
Interesting about the banana yog, Mrs Pea...
I had that for breakfast, and still can't make my mind up as to whether it was divine, or the fact that I waddled around all day feeling too full was another 'result!
Banana and peanut butter is a fab alternative, but looked what happened to Elvis Presley!
-

Lemon sponge sounds nice :D
-
Friday - Wedges and a very manky looking beef burger I found in the freezer. There are few toms and maybe a bit of cuke from from a self set plant - might be horribly bitter not tried them yet. Tin of beans at the ready just in case.

You always make your meals sound soo delicious, Lardy
I've got HM vegie burger also with wedges ;)
-
Mrs Growster made one her famous Shepherd's Pies, with baked beans.
I was in the doghouse, as I forgot to get the lamb mince out of the freezer, so had to go out and buy some more! The traffic was horrendous, and I'd just got back from the weekly shop too...
-
Chicken tray bake with peas as an extra.
-
Plaice fillet dry fried with a few chips and peas , it was lovely fresh from the beach this morning, Raspberry yoghurt to finish :)
Day of tomorrow having a takeaway curry :D
-
You always make your meals sound soo delicious, Lardy
 :nowink: I do my best.
Rubbish weather forecast for today so comfort food needed, slowcooked lamb leg ftf, mash and mixed veg all covered in spoonstanding.
-
Yesterdays lamb turned out to be rather chewy beef casserole :( Freezer surprise again today I want to empty and defrost it.
-
Technical question - er - is 'spoonstanding' gravy please?
-
Technical question - er - is 'spoonstanding' gravy please?
Yes, it's gravy sooo thick you can stand a spoon up in it
I've got a lamb-shank in the slow cooker, and hoping the gravy is heading in the right direction ;) Veggies to be decided 'ron...
-
Yesterday was hm dhal with cougettes, plus some yogurt and rice.
Today is mini roast with chicken breasts on the bone, plus plot spuds and veg. There will be spoon standing as well. Having finally ventured outdoors and scuttled back in pdq, it feels like a gravy day to me :tongue2:
-
Turners pie Mince and Onion with new pots and veg from garden, plumbs from last year made into a crumble with either yoghurt or ice cream :D
-
Salmon fishcakes with holandaise for wife & sprog, monstrous rack of BBQ ribs for me. With CHIPS.
-

Thanks Mum!
My old Aussie flatmate always called it 'sauce', but he did come from Sydney, and his dad brought the first ever 'Vogelbread' to the UK, back in the late sixties, so he can be forgiven!
-
Pasta bake, run out of anything green to put with it though :(
-
Ham and tomatoe omellete with new pots and peas, left over plum crumble with ice cream run out of yoghurt thats not good news :)
-
Chicken breast in spicy breadcrumbs with coleslaw and a small jacket.
-
Mrs Growster allowed me to buy some smoked salmon to go with scrambled eggs today, so I may just treat myself (she doesn't like smoked salmon for some reason - she used to when we went on holiday to Honfleur and we had a fantastic choice from the local fishmongers there...:0(
Why do people go off things I ask you?
-
Homemade fish pie.
-
All this talk of fish :D - I think I'll get some seabass out to defrost....
Salad stuff to go with it already in the fridge :)
-
Oh no, I really do hate fish, the look, the smell, the taste, revolting. Fresh honey roast ham for me, but I don't know how to prepare it yet, might just be a sandwich.
-
It's a salmon and cucumber sandwich today, with our first 'Shirley' tom!
(Sorry Mrs B, just had to say that..;0)
-
I slow cooked a joint of beef overnight in a rich sauce made froom roasted peppers, padron chillies and fresh squeezed orange juice. Going to have that tonight with tacos and all the (Mexican) trimmings.

I slow cooked a joint of beef overnight in a rich sauce made froom roasted peppers, padron chillies and fresh squeezed orange juice. Going to have that tonight with tacos and all the (Mexican) trimmings.
Luxury!
We had it tough...
Handful of cold gravel etc etc etc...
-
Spaghetti bolognaise with whole wheat pasta, not sure about pud :)
-
Egg foo yung with mushrooms and some stir fried noodles with spring onions and bean shoots.
-
Half way into eating yesterdays pasta bake it dawned on me I'd forgotten to put the mince beef in  ::) anyone remember when I used to be a functioning adult :nowink: I need to do something with the mince tonight as its been cooked for a few days but I've got a serious case of the CBA's. I'm considering raiding the spice cupboard in an attempt to add some flavour and just putting it in a nuked spud.
-
Oh Lardy, you really need a good woman to come in and take a firm hold of you. I'm not talking sexually but just to help you get your life in order. Don't look at me I'm happily married to Paul.
-
Oh Lardy, you really need a good woman to come in and take a firm hold of you.
You may be right although that hasn't worked out so well in the past :D Personally I think I'm a beyond saving now ;)
-
Made a fresh loaf this morning - I may have already eaten a large wedge warm with some real butter :tongue2: There may be more destined for beans on toast tonight, with cheese of course. It's a pity all the chickens have shuffled off their mortal coil otherwise I could have put an egg or two on top. :tongue2: :tongue2:
-
Tonight jacket potato and salad with cold meats colslaw beetroot from garden, pud tonight raspberries from garden and a meringue nest with last of ice cream :D
-
I put some lamb mince, lentils, veg and curry spices into the slow cooker before I went to the plot. It was done by the time I came home, completely knackered :D
It was more like soup than curry, but went down well with some crusty bread and meant all I had to do was eat it ;)
-
Leftover shredded beef on top of CHIPS and a quickly made cajun cheese sauce. Still full now.
-
A huge pile of runner beans and several Bernard Matthews Kievs, with a gallon of ketchup...
-
My plan for last night went to pot. I got home from work and OH had started a DIY project that had grown arms and legs and turned into a monster. After pitching in to help I was knackered and he was woe begone and needed a large plate of pasta and sauce with lots of cheese before the world was right again.
Tonight I am doing the grilled peppers and some tomatoes as well, plus chicken and will serve the whole lot over veggie rice :)
-
Freezer surprise. It's in a c500 and has brown sauce - could be the lost lamb leg or more chewy beef casserole. Mash and whatever veg I can find, as just peas never feels right :nowink:
-
H/M Fish pie, very filling no pud tonight :)
-
CBA, so ham, HM coleslaw, toms, cue and a small jacket potato :)
-
Spag bol, it used up a load of bits and pieces that were left in the fridge. Garlic bread on the side.
-
Hot dogs and HM coleslaw, all the veg from the garden which was satisfying.
-
The misery meat was/is lamb but it felt a bit of a waste to cook it I really CBA with food yesterday. Trying again today.
-
Takeaway curry bonanza!
-
Sausages new pots and veg and lovely onion gravy, pineapple and yoghurt for pud :)
-
HM Meatballs with tomato sauce ftf with crusty bread still warm from the oven :)
-
Late finish at work yesterday so beans on toast for me last night.
I’ve been working all day today as well, so have come home with the makings of pretend KFC. XL chicken burgers, skin on fries, mini corn cobs, coleslaw and salad. Not much work to do and I may even get OH to make it, so effort free (for me)
-
Leftover takeaway curry.
-
Leftover takeaway curry.
My favourite kind :)
-
Stop it you're giving me curry munchies :tongue2:
I finished off the lamb but I'm out of sensible veg now and no chunky mixed veg in stock for the shopping  Pork chop tomorrow - mash , veggies, stuffing and spoonstanding if the CBA fairy leaves me alone, wedges and beans if she doesn't.

-
Another day non-stop decorating, rewarded myself with a delicious steak and CHIPS.
-
Trying again with the pork chops today - stuff got in the way yesterday and they're still in the fridge.
-
HM pizza for me today, got all I need for the topping in the fridge, just need to make a base...
-
Take away curry. Granddaughter riding school show today, I only want to watch the 45 minutes she's involved in! So by the time I've applauded children I'll never have contact with again a curry and lager are required.
-
Second day of Mrs Growster's ham, egg and cheese pie...
One or two toms if they're ripe too, but they're painfully slow this year!
-
Selection of cold meats lge mixed salad few new pots and pickles. Banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)
-
No time to cook again today, so pizza it was!
-
I never got round to making the pizza base, but put all the toppings onto a split baguette and put that in the oven till the topping was cooked :D
-
Just taken out some cod so could be cod & chips or since we’ve so much veg, cod Provençal or somat like that
-
The other chewy chop tonight, might put spicy rice with it though as being a loin chop is was a little lacking last night.

-
Full English breakfast.
-

-
I've taken a pork steak ftf for a stirfry, lots of fridge gravel to use up/hide in it :D
-
Looking like chilli in the slow cooker for a CBA day. Rice, jacket or wedges depending on how the day goes and the weather.
I was uninspired this morning and didn't get anything out of the freezer, but I have mince in there and that sounds like a great idea. Darn it! I will nick that one for tomorrow.
Tonight ..... hmmmmmm .... still uninspired but stir-fry has caught my eye. I brought quite a bit of veg home last night from work (reduced and unsold, so I get it free) and I could use/hide a goodly amount as well :)
-
Bacon steak with new pots tomato and peas slice of pineapple on top, oh having mushrooms. Raspberries from garden with you know what ??? :D
-
Paul wanted a roast dinner so chicken pieces duly roasted with roast potatoes, creamed leeks (his choice), cauli and green beans.
-
Lamb hotpot
-
I left a bit of mince out of the chilli yesterday and it's destined for deconstructed cottage pie later with whatever green or orange things I can find in the freezer and spoon standing. I've nearly used enough to defrost the freezer now, but I really need more frozen veggies to use what's left
-
Tromba Parmigiano, as there's one sitting on the worktop and there's cheese in the fridge
-
I got distracted by reduced steak yesterday so we ended up with spicy marinated steak strips, griddled sliced veggies, wraps, yogurt and mint dressing and a shredded cabbage salad. OH demolished 4 wraps so I guess you could call that a success
Today I have a base of mince, tomato, onion, garlic and herbs in the slow cooker, plus cooked beans from the freezer and some fresh veg to end at the end to turn it into chilli. The bonus is that once I finish my paperwork at the workshop, I can go and play at the allotment and tea will be waiting when I get back :)
-

Tiny new pots, cut in half and boiled along with green beans, into dish with a few v.small tomatoes coated with cheese and grilled, v. nice it was. Afterward I thought I could have added some chopped black olives, I've got those, and some chopped bacon, but I haven't got that. ::)
-
Home made Chilli with pilua rice and baghette, also made a sherherds pie and fresh fruit flan not to forget the lemon fairy cakes, yes i've been busy cooking :D
-
Still eating the chilli - Nuked a spud to go with it today.
-
A garlicky bruschetta, (Shirley and Sungold) with basil and a tiny chilli from last year...
Also some grossly expensive Greek olive oil, which is so good, it makes the other stuff pale into insignificance! It's one summer extravagance we look forward to, but Greek oil it has to be - whatever the cost!
-
Had a cauliflower and chick pea curry last night, made by me !! Tonight invited to a Bbq so don't know.
-
Roast chicken & parsnips (ftf) steamed potatoes, carrots & a medley of beans, maybe roast courgettes & gravy of course oh & a Yorkshire pudding or two with gravy.

-
Roasted chicken legs, baked potato, tray bake of plot veg and … corn ! Freshly picked from the plot corn no less and it was superb :D
-
Chicken - Mash, mixed veg , stuffing and spoonstanding.
-
Pork loin chops - not sure about these but they were a freebie from work. Not enough fat or thick enough to be called a chop in my book, but anyhoo. I might cut the meat off the bone and make a spicy pork something. It may morph into curry or just be a spicy stew
-
More chicken, there's some mash left but not really enough to make a meal (I hate that), either more mash needed or some other carb.
-
either more mash needed or some other carb.
Add flour and make tattie scones?
-
Pizza night, plus we picked up some halloumi fries to try as a side.

-
Add flour and make tattie scones?
Life got in the way again :nowink: I'll be doing bubble and squeak with the mash and a sorry looking savoy from snasbods. May make them and freeze, chicken needs to be cooked so some for curry and some with a pepper corn sauce with some mushies.
-

-
We had spicy pork yesterday but I kept thinking about curry ::)
As have I, so that's what I'm having tonight :tongue2: Just waiting on the rice.
It's a pity but just "spicy" never satisfies my curry munchies either :(
-
Got everything prepped and had started to cook spag bol, turned out the fridge to find the other half of the passatta I made earlier this week for another meal and it had 'disappeared'! Somebody ( ;) had put it in the freezer thinking they were 'helping'.

-
Beef chilli wraps.
-
Sausages and mixed Med veg/Tromboncino traybake :)
-
Fresh pasta with a hg tomato & basil sauce & breaded chicken breasts, garlic bread
-
I had to buy a couple of corn cobs the other day, so they won't beat my personal record of 1minute 40 secs from garden to saucepan, but there it is!
Just a few years ago, every road into the village had a private stall selling cobs! They've all vanished, while we still see them growing in the fields!
-
Jacket potatoes with steak for Paul and cheese and tuna for me.
-
Bacon, beans and the leftover roast veg, plus blackberry crumble for 'afters' :)
-
Meh food, I could nuke a spud I suppose. Major case of CBA here today.
-
Late finish for us both today, so Indian takeaway :)
-
Yesterday was stir fry, to night Steak and ale pie with new pots and veg. Apple and Raspberry crumble and ice cream. :)
-
Salmon Jaloussi otherwise known as a salmon pie with rice, mushrooms, spring onions in a puff pastry case. We had to halve the recipe as it was for six but we have managed to stretch it to make two, so one for tonight with asparagus (reduced in the Co-op today) and one for the freezer.
-
Chicken roast dinner with all the trimmings, most veg from the garden too :)

I spiralized a humungous Tromba this morning, I'm gonna try some with a Bolognese sauce tonight, the rest I'll squeeze into one of the freezers. They're nearly jam packed with veg atm though ::)
-
Cabbage, mash and ...... something.
-
Yesterday I had burnt beef ends with bbq sauce. Followed the instructions, but it was very dry. Cooked too many spuds and veg, so today it will be the left overs.
-

-
Took some chewy chops out the freezer yesterday having forgotten there was some minced beef left :nowink: Pork chop tonight - spud situation is a little dire but mash and mixed veg probably.
Deconstructed toad in the hole ....
Contemplating the nature of deconstructing a hole ... would that be reconstructing. ::)
-
Bruschetta with a couple of rolls I've just bought in a local shop!
-
Chinese take-away tonight. We have just phoned the order through and didn't have to give a name as they knew it! We don't have one very often as MSG upsets my stomach so usually make our own.
-
Hunters chicken tonight with chips and peas, rspberry yoghurt for pud. :)
-
Mince in onion gravy over HG runner beans (a few at last!!) and marrowfat peas :)

We had the curry tonight instead with naan and yogurt :)
-
Steak pie, CHIPS, peas and carrots, drowned in spoonstanding.
-
The other chewy chop today. I could dice it and lob it in the slow cooker with some toms but it's gravy not sauce weather. No eggs for yellow frizbees :( and the last of the stuff too.
-
I've found a small tin of cod roe (not the sloppy cod roes but the solid stuff). That's going with some wedges, a big mushroom probably mushy peas or beans. Before anyone reminds me I don't like fish - I know, but like tuna it's not the same. ::) :nowink:
-
Yesterday was a takeaway curry, so leftovers for wife and sprog, pork chops for me because I ate a double portion of curry last night...
-
HM chicken curry with salad and a jacket potato (I thought I had long grain rice in the cuppoard, but apparently not ::) )
-
Nothing, we had the Chinese takeaway on Thursday and I really suffered with nausea yesterday ( which we put down to my lactose intolerence ,and MSG has this affect on me ) so I had two pieces of toast, Pau'ls got it today. so more toast for me. \\\\no idea what's caused Paul's upset as he is the biggest dustbin going! :D
-
Yesterday was spaghetti and meatballs in HM tomato sauce and today is pork loin steaks with plot spuds, chard and cabbage. Spoon standing will also be making an appearance :)
-
Mac and Cheese last night - it was as interesting as it sounds ::) Probably should be a rice day depending on what's missing from the shopping delivery, might be a curry if there's any chicken.
-
Lasagne and it is already made and sat in the fridge ready to cook later.
An afternoon of mucking about on the plot and making the most of the weather was higher on my priority list, but best to have some tea in waiting to stave off plaintive whinging from OH
-
Yesterday was chicken stew! Hubby idea & creation  too hot for stew which in reality was potatoes, chicken, bit of onion in gravy oh & baked beans & a token carrot- there were parsnips in the freezer, & in the fridge -peppers,celery, courgettes, various fresh beans, tomatoes

-
Tonight it's a large jacket potato, with a pizza-style topping (HG toms, onions and peppers) plus plenty of cheddar. Also a large serving of French beans in vinaigrette on the side 8)
-
Smoked haddock and mash as we decided something plain would be a good idea as our stomachs have finally settled down after the weekend's upsets. We have apologised to the Chinese takeaway as we drove past as we found out yesterday that a stomach bug has been doing the rounds over the weekend in Freshwater where our shop is.
-
Pork chops, onion rings, pan fried courgette and CHIPS.
-
A Twongo's ready-made curry, but for one, so we can add all the bits like banana, peanuts, tomatoes and cuces, plus a couple of poppadoms each!
-
Ran out of steam yesterday after I did the rice. Either chilli in the slow cooker today or if I can find the energy I do fancy some hm lasagne :tongue2:. More missing than delivered on yesterdays shopping so things are going to get creative towards the end of the week ::)
-
Sticking with basics still, jacket potatoes with whatever you fancy and can find in the fridge to go with.
-
Broccoli and cheese omelette with peas and tomatoes.
-
Fish pie with the first of the sowing of parsley for the winter, so much tastier than the supermarket pots. With great beans & carrots.
-
I put a fresh loaf on this morning and I have some nice thick slices of black pudding. :tongue2: I'll eat something green to make up for it tomorrow :nowink:
-
My neighbour picked up packets of Molino type 00 flour (marked down to a silly price) which was shared - so I'm making pizza bases today... will top one for tea, the rest can go in the freezer. :) Though I'm fast running out of room, what with the beans finally producing ::)
-
Salmon and cuce s/w, with a couple of toms for colour...
There's also some caviar in the fridge, as Mrs Growster was feeling a bit low recently, so I bought her a tiny jar for a squillion splonders (arm and a leg to everyone), and after a gap of around thirty years, she's decided she doesn't like it now, so I'll have the most expensive sandwich outside of Oxford Street!
I don't really mind of course...
-
Cajun dirty rice for me with mince, onions & carrots ftf , same for himself minus the Cajun dirty rice with spuds & baked beans no doubt lol
-
Sausage and mash peas and gravy, pineapple and yoghurt ;)

I treated myself to a Belgian bun from the Co op, when I went for the paper, this morning :D
A small lamb joint has been defrosting overnight, so that with plot veg for later.

-
Had a break from runners, as they're going bonkers again...
Had runners here, instead of rice with my curry
-
Was supposed to be a thai prawn curry but could'nt find the coconut milk in the freezer so meatballs in a tomato sauce instead with garlic bread.
-
I had a well known brand of Cornish style pasty just after lunchtime and it's left me without a desire for tea and not because it was filling. Won't be buying one of those again.
-
Salt & pepper wedges with garlic & herb coated chicken pieces & tomato & cucumber salad.
-
Had a break from runners, as they're going bonkers again...
Had runners here, instead of rice with my curry

-
More veggie rice, if Id have planned ahead there would be a slice of gammon with it :nowink: I might raid the spice cupboard to see if I can make it a bit more interesting.
Can you make it into egg fried rice ? With maybe some prawns & chilli?
-
Can you make it into egg fried rice ? With maybe some prawns & chilli?
No eggs anymore :( Last of the girls died a few months back and I'm currently refusing to buy the revolting things they pass off as eggs in the supermarket. ::) I grabbed a can of mixed bean salad,an onion and some garlic and raided the spice cupboard - it wasn't bad but could have benefited from something meaty (even prawns).
-
I had a lot of runner beans that were a bit to seedy to eat green, so shelled and cooked the beans and made some bean burgers. Had them with salad and cheesy chips :)
-
Chilli and it is already in the slow cooker, so license to slack off and play on the plot this afternoon :D

-
We are both in a ' can't be bothered' moment so beans on toast has been agreed on, I expect there will be some cheese on top, maybe an egg. On Saturdays Paul's dad insists on going in with him .He started the business and inspects everything, but when you have explained things five times, you get a little bit cross. I couldn't do it, but support Paul and listen to him.

HM chilli out of the freezer and it was going to be nachos, but I left it too late coming back from the plot and couldn’t be bothered stopping to buy the rest of the stuff I needed.
It ended up going with flat breads, oven chips and a coleslaw made from plot cabbage, so some loaded wraps were the end result. Good though
-
HM Cottage pie and veg from garden, peach and raspberry flan for pud :)
-
Pork chop with plot veg for me :)
-
Aubergine parmigiana with cauliflower & romanescue & carrots.
-
Chicken with a polenta and Gruyere cheese topping, roasted med veg and new potatoes. Apart from the potatoes the rest was reduced in the Co-op yesterday and Paul can't resist anything with a reduced label on it. He also got a large bag of carrots for 30p which I've peeled, chopped and put in the freezer as we'd never get through that many carrots before they went off.
-
Chicken curry with plot spuds and greens in it, plus rice, yogurt and an onion, cuke and tomato chopped salad :)
-
Ham egg and chips, rest of fruit flan :)
-
Something (whatever I can find in the freezer) curry with rice.
-
Homemade pumpkin soup for all, plus maple and thyme pork chops for me.
-
Peppers stuffedwith cous cous, veg, chickpeas & feta cheese, with baked salmon, made for me by my sister with the peppers I brought for her. Tried to upload a photo of said peppers in the daily harvest thread the other day but the site said “no”.
-
It's probably about time for a pasta night. Anyone for Mac'n'cheese.
-
It's probably about time for a pasta night. Anyone for Mac'n'cheese.
Yes please :D
If Lardy's offering fails to arrive (what with the present delivery problems ::)) I guess I'll be having soddages, mash and veg tbd.... spoonstanding of course
-
It's probably about time for a pasta night. Anyone for Mac'n'cheese.
Yes please hubby doesn't like it :D
-
Chicken Paella an easy meal again tonight, banana and yoghurt for pud :D
-
Yesterdays Mac'n'cheese was unsatisfying, I had to eat the lot just to make sure though - I thought I'd try sawhedge, mash, cabbage and spoonstanding tonight.
-
After a very hard slog at job no.2 the last couple of nights, I put my feet up and sent OH to the chippy to collect tea :D :D :D
-
I made a batch of Cornish pasties, so had 1 of them with runner beans and peas :D
-
Beef chilli wraps
-
Leftovers from yesterdays sawhedge and mash. It's time to break out the slow cooker menus, I think the weather agrees too. :(
-
A layered bake thing, sort of Lasagna but with sliced Tromba squash instead of the pasta and Gigandes beans in with the minced beef
It's still got the cheesy topping though, because cheese makes everything taste good, am I right? ::)
-
It's still got the cheesy topping though, because cheese makes everything taste good, am I right? ::)
Obviously - but add bacon too as that makes everything more better....
-
Big batch of chilli in the slow cooker as I can feel a bout of the CBA's coming on.
-
I found some unlabelled white fish in the freezer ::) I think it's probably Bassa, but whatever it is, it'll get some parsley sauce over it, with peas and beans :)
-
Paul's got a chicken kiev and I'm having a fishcake with melting cheese middle. Chips for both of us.
-
Lamb stew, very good too.
-
We only ever have a 'quick' tea on a Saturday so tonight it's pizza, coleslaw and I think there's some salad bits in the fridge, I'll go and have a dig shortly.
-
Toad in the hole. Spoon standing.
-
Change of plan tonight - Needed some room in the fridge so used up a savoy. Found a tin of new spuds in the cupboard (don't judge) and some of the left over mince, covered the lot in spoonstanding obviously. It's a shame that cabbage doesn't have a cabbage taste anymore :( but it was at least green.
-
I had sausage, chips and beans :)
-
Pasta bake which was made in advance this morning and shoved in the fridge for later. Just as well because a severe case of the CBAs hit this afternoon
-
Last night was Take away Dansak Curry, tonight is Staek and ale pie with fresh veg new pots, Apple crumble and custard,
apples are from garden :D
-
I've just put steak, carrots, swede, onions and a few lentils into the slow-cooker.
I'm undecided whether to add a suet topping later, for a change, or just do mash as usual.....
Decisions, decisions
-
Last night was steak, chips, mushrooms, for me salad & hm coleslaw & for him peppercorn sauce & a fried egg
Tonight will be chicken & ham pie with a mustard sauce, mash I think & whatever veg I can muster- definitely carrots as we’ve got loads ready now, maybe a few green beans. Making 2 lots of pie filling to repeat on Tuesday as I think the ham is some from Christmas  & needs using up.
-
I started to muck up today's lunch yesterday...
Got all the veg ready for lamb chops today, checked the chops (after defrosting), and found they were in fact pieces of stewing lamb, so it's back to the start with Dover Sole and Plaice - all from a fabulous own-business fish shop right by the fishing boats in Rye!
Still have real treats on Sundays..;0~
-
Roast chicken, roast potatoes and carrots, last of the runner beans, some peas and a bit of cauliflower. To be followed by apple crumble and custard.
-
We are having yesterday's tea as I got out of work later than expected, so mini roast with pork belly, roasties from plot spuds, braised red cabbage from the freezer and some greenery (yet to be decided) planned. There will also be spoon standing and I might even go mad and do Yorkshire puds for the heck of it :)
-
Mrs Growster has built a fabulous lamb casserole with dumplings, and the smell is just fantastic!
If I hold the mouse nearer the kitchen, you might get a whiff...
any luck...?
-
If I hold the mouse nearer the kitchen, you might get a whiff...
any luck...?
Nope - try pouring some into the keyboard instead.
Chilli tonight -Serious case of the CBA's and a splitting headache to go with them. :(
-
What we call wet mince with new pots and veg, rest of Apple crumble and custard :)
-
and a splitting headache to go with them. :(
I hope it eases soon Lardy :(
I've got braising beef and veg in the slow-cooker
-
I’m on the use stuff up from the freezer ready for the man in red event  so for him it’s a tub of steak in gravy & me it’s Keema pie & associated gravy with more of my wonderful crop of Carrots & maybe the last few runners or it will be peas & broad beans ftf.
-
The other half of the cauliflower and vegetable curry I made yesterday. Probably be even better tonight.
-
Picked up a cheap steak which got pounded and marinated for carne asada. Had it with the first batch of HM sauerkraut and CHIPS.
-
Leftover chilli again.
-
Enormous baked spud with cheese, coleslaw, toms an' stuff, plus a few bits of beef from the freezer, which is just lying there, bereft, unwanted (until now - I'm starving as it was just a small smoothie for b/fast, and anyway, Mrs Growster eats like a bird)...
-
Piece of Salmon fillet with vegetable rice, banana ice cream choc sauce and nuts :)
-
Traybaked chicken thigh with onions, tomatoes, peppers and tromboncino :)
-
Everybody on a diet? :D
I'm having a couple of chunky fishfingers with coleslaw, tomatoes and boiled potatoes.
-
Nope, liver & onions with plenty of mash, carrots, peas, broad beans & of course lashings of spoon standing :)
-
Everybody on a diet? :D
Nope, I just scoffed four pork steaks, cheesy fries and HM sauerkraut!
A light ale or two for desert.
-
No diets here but there was HM fish pie with plot veg on the side :)
HM sauerkraut!
What kind did you make? I have a batch made with plot red cabbage on the go at the moment and I keep munching away at it. The kraut process has made it a rather fetching shade of dayglo pink
-

Homegrown white cabbage (can't remember what type without checking my plan) shredded carrot and caraway seeds in as well. I like it with a bit of apple sauce mixed in.
-
Mrs Growster's coleslaw has to be made using a spud basher, so it takes ages...
Like the idea of a spoonful of apple, P1P, we sometimes do that with a grated raw apple, but then it's almost a Waldorf, so we try and keep them separate!
Always chuck in a handful of flaked almonds and sultanas as well!
-
I keep a few jars of the shop bought stuff in the cupboard too :tongue2: Both red with apple and the standard white. I've finished up the last little bit of chilli for lunch so I might just do a few wedges tonight.
-
rather wet and misserable for a cold dinner but never mind Pork pie and a mixed salad, yoghurt for pud :)
all went down ok
-
I put runner bean seeds, mince, carrots, potatoes, onions, lentils and herbs in the slow cooker, but the bean seeds didn't soften ::) so I've had to fish them out to have dinner on time ::) The rest was good though ..
-
I have some chicken in the fridge but have to admit I'm feeling a little uninspired about doing anything with it. I've already had plenty of rice and pasta this week so it should really be spud based today.
-
Yesterday, the hard beans I hooked out of Thursday's dinner were cooked until soft then added to some curried veg and sered with rice and salad bits.
Tonight it's good old bacon, beans, egg and chips :D That'll do nicely after digging on the plot today.
-
Gonna be the last undercover BBQ of the year. The gazebo is being packed away for winter.
Mackerel, caught by me and pork ribs, not caught by me. CHIPS and salad.
My niece is staying over so there will be a fair amount of gin consumed also. 8)
-
Turkey and ham pie and chips. (Got to finish up last year's scraps from 'that' meal before we get to this years! :D
-
Seafood pasta and salad. A fast fix after a busy day :)
-
Lunch was a franchise burger emporium session of gluttony. Therefore dinner is cheese on toast.
-
‘‘Twas supposed to be leftover liver & onions, but neither of us fancied it so we had leftover fish pie that was for tomorrow ::) with hg carrots & ftf hg broad beans & peas.
Had a request for lamb tomorrow & apparently the leftover lambs liver doesn’t fit the brief
-
Utterly foul schwartz chicken biryani packet mix, made as per destructions.
It's not often I consider putting food in the bin ..... but this came very close, 0/5 stars would not recommend. Eat it I did, like it I did not. My own fault for being too lazy to peel spuds for a real meal   .
-
Pork shoulder steak and red cabbage braised with apple mmmm miserable weather food?
-
Roast chicken, all the trimmings!
-
M&S Haddock fingers, wedges and some mushies. Who in their right mind puts 7 fingers in a packet
-
Chicken thigh in honey & mustard sauce with some HG calabrese and purple stripe beans :)
-
Overcooked pork loin steaks with chips :(
-
Roast chicken, all the trimmings!
We were supposed to be having that yesterday but work dragged on longer than I thought. OH had eaten by the time I got home, so I had toast.
We had it tonight instead with plot veg - roasted spuds, squash and turnip, plus steamed green beans. Yorkshire puds and spoon standing as well :D
-
Left over lamb just called out to be made into a hotpot :)
-
Need to finish the fish fingers so mash and mixed veggies with them tonight.
-
Need to finish the fish fingers so mash and mixed veggies with them tonight.
Who else really wants fish fingers and mash for tea after reading that … or is it just me
OH has already demolished a pasta bake I left him, but I’m in now and looking around for something for me. I’m just not sure what yet. I might just go tomato soup and toast as I have a thick sliced bloomer from work I brought home with me and it is calling my name :)
-
Chicken thighs in honey & mustard sauce ....
More of the same with peas and carrots this time.
Walnuts and chocolate buttons after :)
-
HM Lasagne, plenty of butter in the bechamel ;)
-
Baked salmon with wedges, peas, carrots & runner beans, blob of mayo on the side, tomatoes

-
Leftover lasagne plus a few chips on the side. I confirm courgette smuggling occured also.
-
Steak & kidney casserole here with a square of puff pastry for himself, carrots, runner beans (as I spied some in the tunnel about ready earlier) possibly broccoli & or cauliflower/cabbage as they’re all in the fridge. Hmm now I’ve written that it’ll be cabbage as that’ll go really well with the gravy
-
CBA fairy sat on my shoulder right now, so I'm having a nuked jacket spud with chillied beans ftf, toms and cucumber - and CHEESE :D

Substitution bread on todays shopping "Roberts Mega Thick" 10 slice + crusts in an 800g loaf- It may be a tad thick. Tried a few round in the toaster earlier and made a peanut butter and nutella sandwich :tongue2: Not really hungry tonight
-
Curry here from a base mix I made a load of and shoved in the freezer. Added chopped pork medallions (work freebie) and plot greens in and it worked well. Rice on the side.
-
Cheese omelette, chips, salad (me), baked beans (husband) and a couple of glasses of wine.. Ice cream for pud.
-
I'm just putting veg into the oven to roast and will stir it into pasta, then grate cheese on top :)
-
I feel absolutely shattered today and I have no idea why  . Emergency frozen pizza for tea rather than the hoisin pork I'd planned.
-

-
Spaghette bolongnase with whole wheat pasta, no pud this weekend been busy in garden :D
-
Leek and bacon suet roly-poly in the oven. Carrots and green beans to go with. We decided not to have potatoes as there's enough 'stodge' in the pudding.

-
Roast chicken dinner with spoon standing and including plot spuds, squash, beetroot, turnips and cabbage :D
-
Unless I'm struck by inspiration in the hour or so there's a spud destined for the microwave. I had intended on doing cauli/broc cheese and a chicken Kiev with it - but opening a tin of beans sure is easier :nowink:
-
I've got sausages, peas, carrots and mash, plus spoon-standing, of course ;)
-
Was going to be cottage pie with the mince mixture that’s been in the slow cooker all day,but it seems silly to put the oven on so it’s mince & tattles with carrots & for me cabbage
-
Pumpkin and red pepper soup with tuna melt ciabattas. Proper comfort food.
-
We were both late back and it had been a long day, so chip shop tea :D
-
scotch egg and mixed salad few new pots, 3 baby eclairs that needed eating up :)
-
HM Cornish pasty cabbage and peas.
-
Last night was curry made with homegrown onion, garlic, chilli, squash and greens. All I added that was bought was rice and curry spices.
Tonight is going to be chilli as OH is late back and I am not sure exactly when he will get home. It can sit and blip without spoiling :)
-
Beef chilli here too tonight! We're having it with wraps, sour cream, pickled courgette and guacamole.
-
Yesterday half the tray of ripening tomatoes, were red enough to cook, so I made a slow-cooker chilli con a small portion of carne :D :D I ate one portion and froze the rest :)

-
Roast chicken, roast pots, cabbage, peas and carrots with gallons of gravy followed by 'no idea' but husband will always eat icecream
-
Tuna pasta bake because for the life of me I can't remember what I was planning to make with the chicken drumsticks I had delivered on the shopping ::)
-
In the supplement with the Sunday paper this weekend were two recipes from the Hairy Bikers new book on pies. We've now had both of them this week as we had all the ingredients in the cupboard/freezer. Hot pot style one using corned beef and tonights was sausage meatball and veg made into a cottage pie. Both to be recommended.
-
Chicken drumsticks are in the slowcooker all on their lonesome as I still can't figure out what I was going to do with them :nowink: At this rate I'll be picking out the bones and making a stew with them. For once I don't feel like something spicy.
-
Out the freezer curry tonight :)
-
It's what I call 'bitza' for tea tonight, we have a couple of small 'tapas' type dishes with left overs from this week left over so are going to finish them all off (of course with a generous grating on cheese on top to cheer them up!)

-
a sneaky bit of diced courgette (still going in the garden!)
Mine are still going on the plot so we had a sneaky bit of diced courgette as well, which was roasted with red onion and chilli. Also pork loin steak, wedges and some steamed plot greens.
YouTube inspired pud which must be the simplest thing ever. Put coconut flakes or chopped peanuts or roasted sesame seeds in a small plastic bag. Add a peeled nana and squish into the topping. Add a lolly stick and freeze. I am not a nana fan and even I liked them :)
-
I had sea bass with bubble and squeak :D
I made an apple pie, but alas couldn't find the ice cream I thought I had in the freezer
-
Went to the movies tonight and the chippy had closed early. Dinner is Moscow Mules and a bag of crisps ;)
-
I made an apple pie, but alas couldn't find the ice cream I thought I had in the freezer
... and where's my slice ?! Apple pie should be eaten naked as the day it was born, the only acceptable accompaniment is a splash of thick warn custard. :tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:
Sawhedge, mash and I'm going to try for cauli/broc cheese tonight if the CBA fairy leaves me alone. Pity there's no butter as I have a sudden desire for a warm slice of apple pie :D

Used up the pastry left over from yesterday's apple pie, by making a Cornish-style pasty.
I've got salad bits in the fridge to go with it :)

-
Pork chops as they were reduced and a bargain, plus plot spuds, vegetable spaghetti squash and chard.

-
I can just about be bother to nuke a spud.
As long as it had baked beans and lots of grated cheese to accompany it
-
Yesterday was battered cod fillets, oven chips and frozen peas. Chucking a baking tray in the oven was about my limit
Today it is going to be curry themed, but a bit of a mash-up. I’m doing a tray bake of chicken legs, sweet potato and hg giant onion wedges with spices, pilau rice, a spinach and yogurt side dish and poppadoms.
-
As long as it had baked beans and lots of grated cheese to accompany it
Errrrmmm  It was still in the microwave this morning ::) Here's the "ed" that I CBA to type yesterday too :nowink: I have the feeling I need to buy yet another keyboard, either that or new fingers.
Tonight, I have a test item. A can of "hot lamb curry" from M&S, it wasn't cheap either. I know, I know - curry in a can  .... but you never really know for sure until you try it. Basmarti to bulk it out.
-
Chicken burgers, CHIPS and HM coleslaw.
-
Beef chilli ftf with cauliflower cheese, also ftf ::)
can you see the CBA fairy sitting on my shoulder? My excuse is I had Covid & flu jabs this afternoon and am feeling blurgh after 2 buses to get there, and the same coming back, plus a lot of waiting about in queues ::)
Still all done now!
-
My excuse is I had Covid & flu jabs this afternoon and am feeling blurgh after 2 buses to get there, and the same coming back, plus a lot of waiting about in queues ::)
It's considerably better than my excuse that the day has a "y" in it :D I'd take it easy for a few days MoS, let everything settle, public transport has the same effect on me ;)
-
Well the curry in a can was as expected. Blueghh, and still repeating on me this morning.
The leftover the rice tonight with either some breaded haddock or a chicken kiev, I need to eat something from the green food group today too.

-
Made an apple crumble in a large dish, was a piggy and ate most of it !!!!.
I have a frozen one being delivered on the shopping, it's only a pound wasted if it's foul. - I intend to eat the lot :tongue2:
Tonight there's leftover cauli/broc cheese, a jacket, perhaps a spoon of beans and a chicken kiev as I had the fish yesterday. That almost qualifies as a balanced meal
-
Mine was found in the freezer  HM mince in gravy and also HM pasta with roast veg.
That'll do nicely.
Trashco delivery tomoz and, hopefully, by then the CBA fairy will have flown elsewhere
-

Working today, so OH has a curry left out for him to re-heat and I’ll wing it when I get in :)

It was going to be cottage pie, but I ran out of time to make mash. Ended up as mince and tatties, with the remaining meat mix in a dish waiting for a mash top. It will make a good tea for OH when I am working next week :)
-
There are chicken breasts simmering in a honey & mustard sauce, plus swede/carrot to mash and peas.
Salted caramel icecream cone for pud.
-
We had huge breakfast rolls for lunch in town today so tea was just beans and cheese on toast.

Roast lamb, potatoes, carrots, green beans and the last of the courgettes, (thank goodness!) :D Plenty of lamb left for a shepherds pie tomorrow so that's sorted.
-
Roast chicken with roast pots and parsnips, sprouts, peas and gravy. The Apple crumble I made will be eaten tonight after......... who knows.
-
I think I'll turn the rest of the honey/mustard chicken onto a curry for tonight :D
-
Also fetched some chicken out of the freezer this morning. Undecided so far but at the moment Id prefer meat, 2 veg and spoon standing. I have a feeling that today is about to turn into a typical Monday, so it may well end up just being a jar of S&S sauce poured on top eaten in desperation late tonight.
-
We had Shop Cottage pie last night as we'd both had our cateracts done saturday and told not to cook for a few nights GREAT.
Tonight burger in a bun for himself and burger and salad for me EASY :)

Got a large pack free from work so oven roasted with onions tonight, along with baked potatoes, coleslaw and salad.
The rest have been broken into bits and browned, before being put into a pasta bake for tomorrow. I do like having tea in the fridge just ready to go into the oven. It gives you a day off cooking
-
Wednesday turned into a Monday too :(
The chicken needed to be used so I raided the last of the patak pots for a quick curry. No better than the last time I used them but at least it was food. There are leftover in the fridge for tonight, just needs rice (or could I get away with wedges :nowink: )
-
Last night we went out for Chinese as the week before we were isolating as we both had our eyes done cateracts removed. it was hubbys birthday last wk, it made a lovely change.
Tonight a semi fry up useing up odds and bobs :)

It's deffo Wednesday here :D so braising steak and the usual veg, plus lentils, in the slow-cooker since breakfast time.
Now it is Thursday, I've added some curry spice to the rest of that ^ and will warm up a flatbread to go with it. Fridge gravel salad is also available

Chilli con carne so we can watch Grand Prix while eating something we dont do very often, B/A crumble for afters :D
-
Toad in the hole, garden grown cabbage.
-
Szechuan pepper ribs, fish steamed with ginger, spring onions and oriental greens (greenhouse mix), plus some rice.
-
I've defrosted some mince, but CBA fairy is here - spose the easiest thing is to bung it in a pan with a tin of beans, add some Cajun spice and when cooked serve it over a nuked spud.
I think I can manage that much ::)
-
Pork chop with all the trimmings i thought it was about time i had some VEG thoughly enjoyed it, pud rest of apple and blackberry crumble ice cream :D
-
Cauli cheese and garlic bread. Not my first choice but he was so proud of getting a cauli for 50p that I had to go with it. We've only used half, so no idea what to do with the rest.
-
We've only used half, so no idea what to do with the rest.
Curry :D
I am really struggling with the CBA's at the moment. I managed a cheese sandwich which I then nuked, essentially the same things as yesterdays pizza. My apple crumble needs work - particularly the topping as it was less than satisfying.
-
There's a salmon and spinach quiche in the freezer I bought a while back. I not a fan of salmon but but I'll give it a go with a jacket and some shrooms. I suspect the dog will end up eating it though :nowink:
-
Cold meats with a jacket potato and a mixed salad, pineapple and yoghurt for pud :)
-
I had a Cornish pasty for lunch, so this evening it was jacket potato, with some Philadelphia garlic and herb cheese on top plus coleslaw and salad bits.
-
If id bought that wanting a salmon quiche i would have been very disappointed, I found one very small piece of salmon in. I was rather pleased about that :nowink: sorry Max.
There's mince beef to use in the fridge, bought to make spag bol but the shopping was missing the green pepper. I'm thinking mince and mash tonight with chunky mixed veg, spoonstanding covering the lot - naturally. Attempt #3 at apple crumble to follow if I get the time and energy.
-
Spicy chicken breast with chips and peas, fruit yoghurt for pud :)
-
I put carrots, swede, potatoes, lentils, split peas and a couple of orphan meatballs (found at the bottom of the freezer ::)) into the slow-cooker this morning, and I'm just baking a batch of sunflower seed baps. I forgot them when they were proving and they had risen to a humungous size. They'll probably be very holey but they smell lurvely ::)
-
Baked trout on top of onions potatoes cooked in stock, carrots & peas, cauliflower & broccoli with....drum roll a few freshly picked french beans from the tunnel
-
Steak :D
I have roasted some peppers to make a salad with a balsamic dressing, plus there is some green leafy stuff as well.
I'm just baking a batch of sunflower seed baps. I forgot them when they were proving and they had risen to a humungous size. They'll probably be very holey but they smell lurvely ::)
Some hm bread here as well to mop up juices from steak and peppers, but sunflower seed baps sound sooooooo good. Don’t care if they are holey, I’d be happy to scoff them
-
Second day of trying to get the mince cooked as life got in the way yesterday.
-
Bolognese( been in the slow cooker all day ) with tagliatelle, might do me a bit of cauliflower & broccoli too as I’m that sort of girl
-
Found a small portion of pasta, with bacon and veg, in the bottom of the freeze, so I'll microwave that plus cook some mixed veg also ftf. Can you tell the CBA fairy is here again? ::)
-
Chicken omelette and chips from the Chinese takeaway. Also CBA fairy in residence.
-
M&S special offer traditional chicken tenders (whatever they are) and as the oven will be on, a few oven chips, mushies and no doubt there will be a few beans. Well it is Friday after all.
-
Sea Bass fillet defrosting, and I think, peas, mash and parsley sauce to go with it.
-
The good lady's birthday tonight so we'll no doubt be ordering in a meal from the super posho Italian restaurant tonight.
-
Turns out that chicken tenders are just breaded chicken fillets ::)
I made the leftover mince and the half a tin of beans from yesterday into chilli, it in the slow cooker. Might nuke a spud as I'm not in the mood for rice and had chips yesterday. Alternatively I could drag my sorry self into the kitchen and make some bread and put it on toast.
-
Fishcakes for the wife and sprog, all the meat for me.
-
Lamb kofta kebabs with salad and Tzatziki in pitta bread. Some Mavrodaphne to go with it 8)
-
Rack of lamb as a treat, picked up from Gloucestershire farm shop on our way down the M5, with roast potatoes, carrots, cauliflower & broccoli, it was delicious, red currant jelly & gooseberry & mint jelly.
-
I googled Mavradaphne thinking you'd come up with some herb or spice that I'd not heard of. :D It's a bottle of plonk. I feel really hoodwinkded now. :D
-
Plonk? It's a first class Greek wine, I'll have you know
-
Leftovers - In the end I did twice the needed amount of plain rice yesterday with the intention of doing nothing but nuking the leftovers today ;)
-
A small pork loin, roasted with tomatoes, onion, red pepper and potato wedges, plus some peas.
Raspberries set in jelly for afters, with squirty cream :D
-
Beef casserole and veg, fruit flan and yoghurt for pud :)
-
Found some venison casserole in the freezer, mashed potatoes and red cabbage, pear and ginger crumble for pudding
-
Pumpkin, carrot and pepper soup with tuna melt toasties.
-
Found some venison casserole in the freezer, mashed potatoes and red cabbage, pear and ginger crumble for pudding
That sounds nice Pear and Ginger :D
-
A make do dinner tonight Turkey escolopes with chips and bake beans, the rest of fruit flan :)
-
Dover sole fresh from the quayside here in Looe, won’t be repeating it at those eye watering prices!! Cornish new potatoes, peas, carrots & broccoli. Trifle for him & strawberries, yogurt & meringue for me & a chilled glass of a nice Chablis now in hand
-
I'm really beginning to dislike Mondays. Just back, so I'm finishing off the chilli - only enough left to stuff in a small nuked spud so I suspect there will be a cheese sandwich making an appearance later too.
-
Rubbish day today so just gammon, egg and chips.
-
Salmon and veg rice NO puds made
-
Lemon pepper breadcrumbed bassa, with mixed veg ftf and hm coleslaw
-
Another serving of the roast beef with roast parsnips & potatoes with peas, carrots & some sprouts, more trifle for himself & more fruit, meringue & yogurt for me.
-
Beef stew that was cooking formost of last night and most of today, with some hefty dumplings to boot.
I'll be ready to face the cold weather after that.
-
Pizza - but only because it's a pain to keep moving it around in the freezer, it has nothing to do with the fact it only takes 12 minutes and requires no effort - honest guv' ::)
-
Beef stew that was cooking formost of last night and most of today, with some hefty dumplings to boot.
I'll be ready to face the cold weather after that.
I had beef stew that had been in the slow cooker overnight, too! Wonderful smell in the kitchen while I was working from home today :D
-
For some reason I really fancy beef stew ::) slight problem being there's no beef. The weather dictates that it's a gravy day. Best I can do is some sawhedge and mash. I do have a nice red cabbage to braise though :tongue2:
-
We've got Wet mince and mash with some veg :) still thinking of a pudding !! might just do some crumpets later tonight :)
-
Pan fried chicken strips with herbs & garlic, potato wedges & salad
-
CBA fairy has arrived with all her chums, Chinese takeaway it is :D
-
Gammon rasher, eggs and baked beans :D
-
swahedges didn't defrost in time yesterday  and I'm never comfortable nuking that sort of stuff, trying again today with the addition of an apple crumble.
-
I looked in the freezer which is full of stuff - is there actually anything I fancy cooking? Nope!
I dunno, maybe it'll be a cheese or beans on toast day......
-
Barnsley chop with boiled Cornish baby potatoes, carrots, peas & Brussels with gravy & red currant jelly & gooseberry & mint jelly
-
Cheese and ham omelette with new pots and peas, pineapple and yoghurt last night, tonight takeaway Fish and Chips a night off :D
-
You're certainly eating locally Snow, is it DIY or is someone else doing the heavy lifting?
Leftovers tonight, I didn't get chance to make a crumble yesterday hopefully there's time today if not I have my eye on a tin of rice pudding. Must be the weather lately, I've never really been bothered about deserts before.
-
With Mrs Growster calling instructions, I've just made a cod mornay, with a Colman's Cheese sauce and some parsley sauce chucked in as well...
I need the strength, as a huge pile of wood is coming after lunch, and I'll have to stack it..:0~
-
You're certainly eating locally Snow, is it DIY or is someone else doing the heavy lifting?

Haddock mornay, green beans and new potatoes.
-
Home made Madras curry with pilua rice and popadoms :)
-
I have a serious amount of CBA today but not single CBA meal left. It's not exactly pasta and pesto weather but that's what it's looking like.
-
I have mash and chicken, probably to go with mixed veg and spoonstanding. Beans and mushy as a nuked backup and there's a bit of apple crumble left.
-
Mince and onion pies with veg and new pots. apple and raspberry crumble :)
-
mmmmm pie :tongue2:
Cottage pie, mixed veg and spoonstanding - extra effort to be made so there's enough for tomorrow.

It's been stupidly hectic for the last couple of weeks but I am getting home for a proper tea tonight :D
Soddages roasted in the oven with one of my giant homegrown onions sliced and dotted in and around them for company, plot spuds, and squash, plus a freezer dive/shop visit something green to go on the plate. Planning on plenty of spoonstanding as well :)

-
Lamb chops & mash, spoon standing, peas, carrots, psb, few l/o roasted peppers & leeks .
-
Leftovers - I need to use up some apples today too, they've started to develop a nasty petrol like taste like last year :( The jonagold tree is probably my most attractive espalier but the apples aren't particularly useful, I can see it getting the chop this winter.
-
Finishing off the cottage pie, might put some baked beans and mushies with it tonight for a change.
-
Went into Iceland, just to pick up a leg of lamb for the holiday season (family fav) but a pack of barbecue ribs jumped into my basket as well as some jumbo chips. So guess I'll be having those for tea

-
Lamb hotpot
-
Pork chop with a huge pile of roasted veg - spuds, squash, onions, peppers and tomatoes.
-
The other duck leg - mixed veg and mash today I think. Yesterday's gravy was disappointingly thin, if I have to resort to cornflour I might as well go back to browning rather than granules >:(
-
I'm defrosting a boneless chicken thigh, so it'll probably be in a stir-fry with fridge gravel and rice.
-
Chicken and pasta bake, not my husband's favourite but it's what I fancy
-
Spinach and chickpea curry, plus chicken thighs roasted in spices, naan and yogurt.
It was supposed to the chicken thigh fillets in a curry, but I got the wrong thing out of the freezer. When will I learn to label things ::)
-
Garlic fried chicken strips & salt & pepper wedges & salad
-
End up with pasta yesterday :nowink: Trying again with the duck today.

Think it might be soup- if I don’t get warmer by the time it is served I might put my feet in it

& maybe fruit salad ? Whatever it is I’m sure I’ll enjoy being waited on & all the chat :D
-
Pork pie and a mixed salad , warm mince pies and custaard :)

Now there’s a thought :D
-
Burger in buns - not something I'd normally do but they were on offer :nowink: I bought gherkins and lettuce to add something green.
-
Savoury mince with a suet crust topping it was lovely but very filling fresh veg , plum crumble and ice cream :)
-
Roast chicken thighs, roast spuds and squash, cabbage and spoon standing.
-
It feels like it should be a gravy day. Sawhedge and mash if I cba or mince beef and onion pie If I can force myself into making pastry. Normally there'd be no chance but I'm trying to avoid doing some overdue cleaning up and sorting out.
-
Stig brought me some Gilthead bream, my favourite fish, so having one of those, grilled with salad and Greek lemon roast potatoes.
Shame I can't have Greek weather to go with them, as it's dreich out there today

-
Oh no, what a bummer, Lardman :(
I've got chicken thigh defrosting will do a stir-fry with fridge gravel and nuked rice :D
-
Sympathy lardman. My beloved Punto went to the scrap yard at the start of the year. I'd had it from new and it was brilliant
Supper is veg curry to be followed by apple crumble and custard.
-
Not a lot tonight been out for Christmas lunch with my BEST friend of 50yrs !!
M&S Mac cheese , OH had steak and ale pie with a few chips and bake beans :)

-
Pork loin, broccoli cheese, roast spuds, carrots and gravy!
And I have to keep rushing in and out of the kitchen to the living room to ask Mrs Growster what to do next...
...so a rather pleasant chilled Barley Wine helps a great deal!
-
Pork loin, broccoli cheese, roast spuds, carrots and gravy!
Change the broccoli to cauliflower here, and SNAP!
-
a nice piece of beef cooked slow home grown cabbage baked potatoes and a must have Yorkshire pud with gravy made from the beef juice followed by a home made custard tart O and a glass of Guinness what could be better on this cold damp winters afternoon I ask myself :D
-
I need some freezer space so I'm finishing off the fish fingers which are in an over sized plastic tray. Probably mash, peas and sweetcorn. Parsley or possibly cheese sauce as everything is better with cheese ::) .
-
Made a massive vat of beef stew yesterday so it'll be that for tea again tonight.
-
Spicy beef steak lets with roast potatoes last of the veg from plot, Blackberry and Apple pie with custard :)
-
I had planned on doing cottage pie but I think Id prefer cheese on toast, with a slash of Worcestershire sauce.
-
Gammon, egg and chips!
-
2 of the fish pies I made last week with peas & carrots & leftover salad for me.
-
Chicken breast with roasted squash, carrots and peas.
-
Sweet and sour pork and tofu with rice. Non battered version, just marinated and shallow fried with a potato starch coating to make it crispy and with a proper sweet and sour sauce, not that red gloop they give you in takeaways.
I did include peppers and spring onions, but no weird bits of fruit. I have a bit of a shudder response to hot fruit in my dinner
-
Against all odds, I'm planning a chicken casserole today, so Kent Fire Brigade might have to be be on Red Alert...
The one bolted leek we have has now reached four ft, so I'll also need a degree in surgery to hoik out the middle bit and sort out the rest of the leaves, which are usually OK if treated properly!
As usual, Mrs Growster will be instructing me from the comfort of her recuperating chair - I hope!
-
Roast beef ftf, maybe croquet potatoes ftf - hubby says there are some that he made but I think we’ve eaten them! & veg
-
Made a massive vat of beef stew yesterday so it'll be that for tea again tonight.

-
Bacon, egg, beans and chips :)
-
Sausages mash and peas gravy, pineapple and ice cream :)
-
Nuked a spud added cheese and the half can of beans left in the fridge.
-
Deconstructed cottage pie and it's about time I had a pile of mixed veg. Lump of venison taken out of the freezer for tomorrow, it's been in there since 2019 so might be past it's best - if so I'm sure Max will enjoy it and I'll be having a cheese sandwich for Christmas lunch ::) .
-
I made a chicken casserole today, and it was hideous!
I'm trying to build up Mrs Growster, not clonk her on the head with such a poor delivery..:0(
She's graciously said that I'm still learning, which is so true!
-
I made a chicken casserole today, and it was hideous!
I don't think I've ever cooked a casserole or stew that didn't taste like a random assortment of fridge stuff in hot water :nowink: It's another one of those dark arts. You can always take the big bits out, add some noddles and call it chicken noodle soup
I've made the effort to construct my cottage pie just so I can melt some cheese on top of the mash :tongue2:
-
Sweet and sour pork with stir-fried veg.
-
Night off work and OH appeared with a chip shop tea - win win :D
-
Cottage pie - the jury is still out on the venison - have to taste it when it's done.
-
Jacket potato with a mixed salad cheese and turkey slice, pineapple and yoghurt :)
-
Chicken and roasted veg after a long and very busy day at work. I was starving hungry and demolished it, but am now feeling sleepy. Just sitting and vegging with a hot cup of tea is about my limit for a bit
-
Salmon en croute with a lemon and watercress sauce. Very disappointed. Wanted something different this year from normal but may have to revert back to the usual.
-
First slices off the small gammon joint. I cooked it in the slow-cooker in apple juice and it is lovely.
Ate it with salad and a small jacket potato and the first HM mince pie of the year, for pud :D
-
Couple of slices of Bambi , mash, chunky mixed veg and spoonstanding. I was going to make a pudding but somehow I've managed to completely run of of sugar :nowink: opened a tin of rice pudding but it wasn't the same.
-
Jacket potato, first of the gammon here too, salad, coleslaw (was supposed to be celeriac remoulade but the celeriac was all wormy inside , ) pickles & chutneys
-
Making an egg and bacon pie this morning, as Elder Daught is coming round for the day!
Adding coleslaw, a few bottled (shop) gherkins, peppers etc, and a dollop of chilli jam, which - ahem - has worked pretty well for a change!
Bit of a day to forget yesterday, ED was doing a fabulous lunch at her place; I only got a couple of hours of kip during the night, we were late as Mrs Growster felt decidedly off-colour, (which is what's happenening while she's recovering), got there eventually, laid off the Chapel Down as I was driving, but nearly choked to oblivion on a peanut, Mrs Growster became worse, and ED's cat got far too close to a candle, and singed her fur!
B****y H**l, I was pleased to get back to the fire at home, with a large brandy and a kip in the PM!
That's why we always prefer Boxing Day - the pressure's off for another year!
;0)
-
Lunch was fabulous, my son sure can cook. Turkey, beef, gammon and all the trimmings. Spotless kitchen as granddaughter cleared up
Last night was a cup of tea
Today is, no prizes for guessing, cold meat, bubble and squeak and pickles. Not sure I don't prefer it to the big days blow out. We have a mountain of of cheese in be the fridge but that will be for later
-
Cara was head chef for the Christmas cookathon. I was helping and washing up. We may have overdone things....
Roast chicken - fact is we're not that keen on turkey (or goose)
Pigs in blankets
Stuffing balls
A sausage meat stuffing 'cake'
Carrot & parsnip mash
Roast parsnips
Roast potatoes
Mashed potatoes
Mixed peas and sweetcorn
Brussels sprouts
Onion sauce
Bread sauce
Christmas flavoured redcurrant sauce
Followed by Cara's tiramisu - about 20 portions in the dish!
Washed down with Moet (thanks to our wonderful neighbours!) or some expensive raspberry crush for the grandson and designated driver.
Rennies :D
-
Rennies :D
It sounds like quite a spread.
Today I am mostly going to concentrate on not cooking too much at all, so we are on cheese, pickles and salad for lunch and tea is going to be something pretty simple as well :)
-
Yesterday I went against tradition and cooked a leg of Lamb (family favourite) sausage toad in the hole, roast spuds, snap peas and carrots, just a few Brussels and cauliflower cheese; cherry trifle or mince pies and cream for pudding.
Gammon and salad was available for tea, but not a soul could be bothered with it, after they'd opened crisps and eaten all of MY chocolate brazils  The cheek of it
Today it will be cold lamb and bubble and squeak :D
Flow tests all round again on Tuesday morning and repeat with stuffed pork loin for the other half of the family, if everybody is ok, Fingers crossed.
-
Well yesterday’s late dinner (about 5:30pm) was
Baked goats cheese Camembert with garlic & rosemary served with toasted sourdough for DD & I & pate for himself
Roasted boned & rolled turkey,
Roast Potatoes & hg parsnips , mashed potatoes
Peas & hg carrots
Cauliflower & broccoli cheese
Sprouts with bacon & chestnuts roasted
Hm cranberry sauce with range, port & grand marnier( this later addition was a great idea to be repeated plus there’s 6 jars now water bathed in the pantry :D
Stuffing balls
Pigs in blankets - first year I’ve ever made them ! Normally just sausage meat balls
Lashings of really yummy gravy.
A fair few glasses of fizz for me & red vino colapso for himself
Rather later I succumbed to a chocolate & orange jelly mousse thingy I’d made & then made the mistake of having a 2nd  but a glass of my late dads fine champagne brandy helped me feel better
Not sure by that time what hubby & daughter had for pud , oh I know lemon meringue pie lol
Today will be a rehash of anything we can be bothered with& probably chips or hubby might just have his usual Boxing Day Fayre of egg & chips
-
Cold meat, (turkey or gammon) with potato salad, pickles and any other salad bits. Boxing Day is always a lazy day for us. We catch up tomorrow when normal service is resumed. :D
-
Christmas leftover pasties.
-
Egg and chips
-
Curry made with left-over lamb :D
-
Lst night we had steak and all the trimmings, tonight cold turkey and salad with bits and pieces. Not sure about pud :)
-
Finishing off Bambi, although to be honest I'd also prefer egg and chips :nowink: especially if they were real home made chips rather than oven ones.
-
Stew that has been pluttering away in the slow cooker since this morning. It started with base veg - carrots, celery, onion, garlic, plus herbs, stock and some stewing steak. Potatoes were added an hour or so ago.
The whole house smells warm and comforting :D
-
Smoked haddock risotto
-
Just starting to build tomorrow's Coronation Chicken... (actually, just roasted the chicken)!
Going to use this recipe, with Mrs Growster's approval tomoz, so she can see if it meets with her original recipe, but if anyone has some more tips I'm all ears!
https://www.food.com/recipe/coronation-chicken-deli-style-but-cheaper-490821
-
We were going to have risotto as well but have pigged out on nibbles etc all afternoon and didn't fancy it. More nibbles from the freezer plus grapes and a satsuma each to try and even out the amount of breadcrumbs we've eaten today. Must try harder tomorrow.
-
Ahhh …. Proper food at last .
Cornish pasty (farm shop ) with spuds, broccoli, carrots and B. sprouts from the plot .
Very acceptable :)
-
Wet mince and mash , banana yoghurt choc sauce and nuts :)
-
Leftover roast lamb, an orphan sausage, roast potato and squash, peas and carrots.
Piece of cherry cheesecake for afters :)
-
Sausage hot pot with 1/2 a ‘stick’ of sausage meat the other half stick will be tomorrow’s breakfast.
-
Ready meal - chicken madras. Thought it would cure my curry munchies, it didn't; but it was cooked in 6 minutes and required absolutely no effort.
-
Lincolnshire sausage toad in the hole with onion gravy and seasonal veg.
-
Pasta bake as a way to clear some Christmas leftovers and other fridge bits. Not tomato based for a change as it is going to have a sauce made with soft herby cheese and also feature leftover chicken and some Parma ham.
-
Steak & chips, mushrooms in a mustard creamy sauce for me, with a helping of freshly picked salad leaves for me
-
The last of the lamb, stewed with lentils, carrots and onions, with mashed potatoes and peas.

Snazbods has thrown me a couple of curve balls with the shopping. No veggies  , no bread flour and the baking potatoes are the size of hens eggs  so I'm going to have to get creative or go shopping. Not tonight though as I've settled for tuna pasta bake. :nowink:
-
Stir fry with the rest of turkey, £1 pud spotty dick and ice cream :)
-
Celeriac and leek gratin with the last of the Charlotte spuds .
-
Met up with a friend's family for pizza for lunch so tonight was back to the pate and wine. God I love Christmas!
-
Back to cottage pie today and anything green or orange I can find in the freezer. At least I now have some sugar to do an apple crumble for pudding.
-
Curry tonight, with the last of the salad bits on the side. Apart from an unopened pot of pate, and the meals made and put in the freezer, that Christmas food all gone....
Back to normal and low-carb food for me tomorrow
-
Need help please :)
I have Brie and salami to use up and have just bought a box of ready rolled puff pastry.
Plate pies or parcels ? and what else to go inside ? I was thinking caramelised onions and beaten egg to bind it, but open to other ideas :)

Quick and easy ;)
-
Pizza style with the caramelised onions - Salad or jacket to ease the richness, or be naughty and a hand full of chips with it.
-
Both good ideas. I was being lazy and trying to avoid making short crust pastry
I’ve got a cheese and onion bread mix, so now wondering about calzone
I’ve got plot cabbage for a slaw, plus onion and carrot. Chips perhaps for OH. The bread will be enough for me :)
-
Had to look up 'calzone', and now Mrs Growster has placed an order for a toasted cheese and onion sandwich tonight!
Bet she changes her mind after the hundredweight of Coronation chicken we're having for lunch - with sauteed pots and onions...
-
Both good ideas. I was being lazy and trying to avoid making short crust pastry
Use the puff pasty - just don't make the topping too wet ;) I used to use it for ML as her teeth weren't up to chewing pizza bases.

Aaaahhh got it ;)
An open faced puff pasty tart/pizza thingy - sounds good :D
-
Treating the good lady and myself to a slap up surf and turf tonight, spicy wedges and giant mushrooms topped with cheese at the side.
-
I also looked it up sounds good for a quick lunch,
Still using bits and pieces up pork pie and salad plus pickles, pud tinned fruit and yoghurt may be :)

Oh, you are posh, like Growster I had to look it up  Now I shall wonder what you will have . I'd have had crusty bread and Salami and the Brie. Mrs B

I use pizza base mix to make calzone, never used bread mix before but suppose they are basically the same thing. We've got the rest of the turkey and mushroom pie to finish up with left over veg from the last few days to make into bubble and squeak.
-
I can’t believe it’s not butter chicken ( from the new pinch of nom book - comfort food) with rice & mini poppadums from a packets of nibbles bought for Christmas nibbles- another bit gone lol
-
Now I shall wonder what you will have .
I went with the puff pastry pretend pizza and OH literally demolished it, so that was a hit :)
Calzone is just a folded pizza, but somehow different. Bread mix is definitely not authentic, but quick. I just sub a slug of olive oil for some of the water. Think Italian version of a pasty Mrs B. It’s a great way to use up leftovers and also good with just a pizza sauce and cheese inside. They reheat a lot better than leftover pizza so I make a few and freeze some :)
-
When l were a lad we used to have a very similar creation , but it was always called Stromboli, which l think is more usually rolled and not folded ( we had ours either way ) . Quite the talking point in the playground ! . But l think true Calzone is made without tomato paste or sauce.
-
FUN FACT : The word CALZONE is Italian for “Pants” or “Underpants” .
As the folded dough resembles in some way the article of wear . :)

It has been decreed by him who’s never obeyed that we’re having lamb chops tonight  so bound to be mash & onion gravy, might be a cheeky Yorkshire pud thrown in as there are some in the freezer, also carrots, peas ( we always have these, I’m sure you’ve noticed lol !) & broccoli. They’ll be gooseberry & mint jelly too & since it’s New Year’s Eve I might succumb to a glass of red or even sparkly stuff.
Happy New Year everyone
-
The rest of the cottage pie. I found some of the diced veggies I normally use in fried rice in the bottom of the freezer so at least there's something green too. I was sidetracked by some spreadsheets yesterday and didn't get around to making a crumble will try again later.
-
Saved the best to last Dover sole chips and peas OH having birds eye cod and chips and peas :)
-
Pork steak in barbecue sauce with tenderstem broccoli and peas.
There's a drop or 2 of pink fizz to finish up, later on, as well :D
-
Balsamic red onion and goats cheese tart with salad and the rest of the potato salad.
-
I made a Shepherd's pie today, and keep wondering what to do with the baked beans left over!
Can't waste them...

Roast lamb, very yummy it was too.
