Birdsong ID
« on: February 12, 2024, 15:25 »
I've had a really pleasant couple of hours pottering in greenhouse and garden.
I finally sat down with a cuppa and heard a bird I couldn't ID? I couldn't see it in the hedgerow either, so that doesn't help  ::) You know when an alarm goes of you hear bleep, bleep, bleep? Well, all you get with this call is the first bleep then quiet, then a little later, another single bleep....

It's a bleeping nuisance  :lol: :lol: Anybody recognise the call?

I have a good (free) bird app called ‘Merlin’.

We have starlings that mimic car alarms and phone ring tones, but they are not so restrained to just do a single beep and then be quiet.  Oh no, you get the full performance and very pleased they look with themselves too  :lol:

I use the Merlin bird app too.

Although over a period of time I was getting very frustrated with its inability to identify a particular bird song ...

... until I realised it was a squirrel's call instead  ::) :lol:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
