I've had a really pleasant couple of hours pottering in greenhouse and garden.
I finally sat down with a cuppa and heard a bird I couldn't ID? I couldn't see it in the hedgerow either, so that doesn't help  You know when an alarm goes of you hear bleep, bleep, bleep? Well, all you get with this call is the first bleep then quiet, then a little later, another single bleep....

It's a bleeping nuisance  Anybody recognise the call?

I have a good (free) bird app called ‘Merlin’.

We have starlings that mimic car alarms and phone ring tones, but they are not so restrained to just do a single beep and then be quiet.  Oh no, you get the full performance and very pleased they look with themselves too

I use the Merlin bird app too.

Although over a period of time I was getting very frustrated with its inability to identify a particular bird song ...


... until I realised it was a squirrel's call instead
