Winter Poultry Preparation...
« on: October 07, 2006, 10:00 »
Hello all

This is my first winter with my chooks....I'm wondering what kind of preparation I will need to do?
I live on a hill and have protected the back of the chook house from the roaring wind that can whip up! (turned my green house upside down once!)
The house I have is made from timber slats and in one or two places the slats don't join together perfectly...do I need to protect the chickens from the cold?
Am I worrying about nothing?

What do others do?

Also what are the classic things one should be looking for this time of year...?

Thanks

I love my chooks...

Although you want ventilation in your hen house you need to stop draughts by all accounts.
