Hello all I am new here and I know there are many questions from newbies like me on here regarding housing but I have another !
We are looking to put a few chooks on our new allotment, funds are tight so can't go all out on mod cons set up. Run is sorted though.
Seen a few comments on housing and have picked up a few pointers, a shed is best, can't seem to get one at sensible price, coops off the shelf are not long term structures and expensive, felt is a no-no, eglus are good for hygiene but tend to be small and expensive . . . Question coming . . . has anyone used a childs plastic (or wooden) playhouse with modifications admitedly to prevent draughts, they look as though they could go quite cheap on e-bay? smaller than a shed but bigger than a coop, plastic good for hygiene.

I dont see why not! Give it a go ;)

A wooden one would be better and easier to adapt. Eglus are double skinned which means that they are warm in winter and cool in summer and not too sure if plastic houses are.
