High Nitrogen Feed ?
« on: May 13, 2019, 21:26 »
I was a bit rushed when plant hunting today, but the very knowledgeable man said to me give your potted bamboos a good nitrogen feed occasionally.   I did not have time to ask, but does he mean lawn feed (bamboo - grass !).   If so, can you please recommend or correct me.   I guess that it would be better to put granules around the plants in their tubs rather than water in.  Thanks  Mrs Bouquet

One of the best for potted evergreens is Miracle Gro.  It is high nitrogen, but has a bit of other stuff as well.

I used to use it on specimen plants when I worked at a garden centre.  For stuff that is constantly being watered, it keeps them looking green and lush.  Bamboos need very little food, so a liquid feed once a month is more than adequate  :)
