Hi all,

Grown a wigwam of sweet peas as I do every year. This year however I've only got flowers at the top of the plants...need a bloomin' ladder to pick them 

They're grown in a raised bed, this bed had garlic in last year and I threw in a couple of spent pots of compost. Not sure if either of those things would have caused them to just flower from the top?

How strange - so are mine! They're in a big wooden barrel supported by a wig-wam of canes and last year flowered a lot, but this year they took ages to get going and many have quite short stems as well.

Things generally got off to a slow start this year, and on our site many of us have climbing beans that didn't start flowering until they were tall, juts like your sweetpeas.

I don't think the problem lies in the soil prep so much as the weather.
