Leek flower. Oops?
« on: September 09, 2010, 12:07 »
This year is the first time I've tried to grow leeks (Musselburgh)

I'm pretty happy with the way they've come on, but one of them has developed what appears to be a flower head (see pic, just above the middle.)

I've snipped it off, but this isn't supposed to happen in their first year, (is it?  )

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Not supposed to.

It's bolted!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Hope it's just the one then otherwise leek-wise I'll be completely bolted and screwed!  :nowink:

It'll have a flower stalk in the centre, but the rest can be used OK.
