what are the ideal growing conditions for carrots? i.e. soil type depth and height to carrotfly please?

Hi, carrots grow best on light land but if you have heavy land grow a shorter variety. Once sown don't let them dry out. Rows 6" apart thin out to 2" apart or leave for small tender carrots. Some people say that a barrier arround the bed of fine mesh 2 feet high keeps the fly away as they are low flyers. Feed as required. Hope this will be of help.

Carrots like poor soil and sandy conditions if possible. I grow mine using a 50/50 mix of compost and sharp sand.

thanks i hope i get some good results i love fresh carrots outta the ground. mmmmmmh sweet as anything and crunchy! god i cant wait!
