light brown bits on tomato leaves?
« on: April 28, 2008, 08:02 »
meant to bring my camera and post a photo but have forgotten it. Hopefully I can explain a picture instead.Have 3 tomato plants growing on window sill. They are maybe about 2 foot high or maybe a bit more. They have been growing fine except that yesterday I noticed a couple of leaves on one of them had irregular light brown patches on the leaves. The brown bits were harder than the rest of the leaf and appeared to be raised slightly. I wondered if it may have been where the leaves maybe touched the window and got scorched but I dont know. to be on the safe side I have put the plant somewhere else. I have used new pots for them and new soil so really dont know. would be better with a photo I know but maybe someone knows what I mean

I think you'd be really unlucky to be getting an early blight, especially indoors. Possibly remove the affected leaves and spray the plant with Dithane.

I agree, its more likely scorching from touching the glass, and moisture from the glass which can do little nasties like that. Blight from indoor seeded and growing plants is a little unusual.

Some of mine got a bit scorched on Sat
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
