Just noticed that a couple of my tomatoes have light brown bits where the stalk joins the tomatoes.  dont know whether you can see from the photos.







The top picture shows the plant which looks healthy (to me).  Anyone of you experts out there know what it is and what to do.  the rest of my tomatoes seem healthy enough and it is only on 1 plant so far.  :?   Help.

I know toms can get blight, my neighbours had blight on their last year, but I thought that was brown spots on the leaves.
Your toms look great, are they under glass or in a poly tunnel Mabel?
What do you do with your tom crop?  I bottled some last year- they were very tasty with pasta.

they are in a polytunnel.  This is the first year I have grown tomatoes.  Will probably need plenty of recipes for the glut(hopefully) if I dont kill them all.

I could be wrong, but it's possibly due to water gathering in there from having been watered?

Dont think iit could be that as I water from the bottom not over the foliage.  Unless it is water dripping from the roof of the polytunnel.

Well, it does not look too much to worry about to me if the plants don't develop any other symptoms, I'd tend to think it's some physical injury, like water drop and then sun scald, maybe, or something rubbed against there, maybe a bit of scab at most.

Are they dry as they seem to be, but might be wrong from the photo.

If water sets in there from condensation it might start a rot for you though, that would be soft.

They are dry.  I'll keep my eye on them.  Just worried it might be blight.  I've nurtured these through the winter, -5 degrees, tornadoes, etc,  with fleece, net curtains and things.  dont want to lose them now.

I believe actual blight hits the leaves first then the fruit. What you have isn't blight. It could be just some light 'cracking' from irregular watering.

It looks like the flower of the tomato has stayed on and dried, i had the same problem with some of my beefeaters last year so i just pulled the flower away when the tomato started forming. :?
