A question for any carpenters out there:

What is the best wood/timber to use to build a close-boarded gate for the narrow alleyway that leads from the front of the house to the back garden? The intention is to paint it with coloured wood paint afterwards.

Go to your local wood yard / fencing supply's and ask them for v board / t&g you will need a thickness of 19mm and ask for redwood...this is what i use for gates
