Help please... am stuck moving greenhouse!
« on: August 12, 2009, 23:39 »
I spotted an unused greenhouse in my Auntie's neighbour's garden...unused for at least 12 years with sycamore and lilac growing through it.
The neighbour said I could have it if I could get it out. 8)
Day 1... cut down trees, shrubs and brambles; removed plastic pots, wire, broken glass etc from inside :)
Day 2... removed glass fron sides but couldn't reach roof (only 5ft tall)
Day 3... Cleaned frame...'orrible big spiders and enough varieties of moss to set up national collection

NOW I'M STUCK :(

There isn't room to put step ladder at either side to get at roof glass.

Should frame be strong enough to unbolt roof from sides and with help of other vertically challenged friends lift roof (and glass) down to floor level to remove glass? OR does anyone have any other suggestions.

Fingers crossed someone has an idea, Would include pictures but struggling to resize them.

What i done was put ladder up one end of greenhouse and remove the first panels of glass, then moved the ladder into the greenhouse and put up where the glass was and worked my way along like that, im only a short asre as well hahahahaha it can be done.

Why does good advice always seem so obvious when someone else says it?

Thanks for the help Rangerkris, I'll let you know how it goes, probably at the weekend as I'm moving the shed today... and I thought the allotment would be all about growing things!!

Dont forget to mark every piece when you take it apart. And take as many photos as you can, especially close-ups of corners and joins.
Is it wood or alu?

Frame is aluminium with a metal plinth which is rusty in places probably due to 12+yrs of neglect
