hi guys
i have never tried green manures , what are the best types how long do we leave them for and so on ? my plot is clay (surprize! ) but have raised beds most are pretty good but a few are not , luckly i have a friend with a horse so free poo but only one horse not enough poo?

hungarian grazing rye!!   i put i load down oct nov time just starting to tred it down now and dig in, i heard it was good for clay soil.

I sowed mustard
I was to early with it, as the idea was to start digging it in about now,
i sowed it in september, and because oct-nov where very mild it started to get out of control so i choped into the top layer of soil in dec,
I was told that eel worms don't like it so my spuds should be ok,
Also it has a really nice smell when you chop it

Just bear in mind that mustard is in the brassica family so if you have club root problems don't use it
