Title: #### Rats
Post by: bantam novice on June 09, 2011, 14:56
This is just a heads up for people.  Truly learning by our mistakes
I went down to let the girls out this morning and when I opened the feed bin (thick plastic) I found that rats had chewed a large hole in the side about five inches up from the ground and lots of pellets had spilt out
Well I had to go and get another bin for feed but this time I got a galvanised metal one.  I don't think even the hardest toothed rat from the diamond tooth society of hard tooth university would be able to chew through that  :tongue2:

thats why I changed from a plastic dustbin to a metal bin to store my chickens feed in. I asked on freecycle and luckily for me a couple of people gave me their bins. Then my MIL gave me her old 2 bins so I have 1 for layers, 1 for mixed corn, 1 for chick crumb and 1 for growers/rearers  :D
