Convolvulus cneorum aka Silverbush
« on: August 02, 2023, 11:53 »
I've just bought 3 of these as baby bushes, to grow on and plant out with roses next year. Official write up is that they are hardy, yet lots of notes on-line saying they aren't fully hardy and a good frost will kill them

Has anybody grown them successfully outside, or do I need to keep them in pots so they can go n the greenhouse each winter?

I have had these pretty plants planted out, but sadly they succumbed.  Mrs B

I would say not hardy, unless you can keep them in dry well-drained soil over winter and that is not so easy when they are in the ground.  I think like a lot of silver leaved plants, dry cold is one thing, wet cold and sodden roots are quite another.

Realistically for most gardeners it means growing in pots and moving them under cover.
