Growing In Shade

Hi i have a shady patch next to my polytunnel of about 7x4ft..it gets the morning sun and then the evening sun on about half of it.. i put romaine lettuce in there last year with some ruby chard next it and both did really well..but i was wondering what other veg doesnt mind a bit of shade?...thanks

Brassicas in general will tolerate moderate (not total) shade.
Faff free zone!

Lettuces in general don't like being overheated by the continuous tropical sunshine we've kept having the last few years.  8)

Parsley is unusual in that unlike most of the other herbs it also seems to do better with a bit of shade.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Radishes can cope with part shade as can most leafy greens.  You could try any of the fast growing asian veg like pak choi.

Thanks for the comments..i am trying to stay away from brassicas this year as im trying to keep things as organic as possible and i cant be doing with the white fly invasion anymore..i want to eat my garlic and chilli`s not spray them on some very irritating little beasties..i think i will give some tall peas a go in that spot with something leafy underneath which with my layout does make perfect sense this year..I was gonna grow some sugar snaps in the bed in front of this one but moving them back a bit can only be a good thing. thanks for the advice everyone.
