the scout hut next door shades half my plot , >:(  so i am looking for things that will grow in that area im going to try cauliflower, cabbage and purple sprouting broccoli and will try some beets what else is worth trying will onions grow there ? what about parsnips
when im with my 9yr old she's the sensible one

If it helps, I've grown carrots in part shade before at home, with good success.  I've got some of my plot in part shade from my shed, and I'm going to bung carrots in there, I'll see what happens!

I've always put my parsnips in full sun and have never been disappointed. but cucumbers don't mind some shade, same with sweet peppers.

the area is in full shade allday so i dont think anything will grow with any substance the only things that might work could be chives and parsley  .....  help meeeee!!!

I was so pleased on Sunday to get the temporary roof on my new chicken run at the allotment.  It was only a few minutes later that I realised one of my new raised beds is now in partial shade because of the roof!  Interested in the replies to this thread to see what I can grow.  Love growing PSB so if that doesn't mind some shade then that will be where that goes this year!

hi elcie  i have read that psb will grow in shaded areas as long as it does getatleast a couple of hours sun
