Brewing on the plot
« on: November 16, 2016, 22:13 »
Hi,

Does anyone brew wine/beer/cider on there plot?  I've be lucky on our allotments where their is no waiting list so we have the chance for a second plot.  I've put my name down on the plot next to me which I hope will come up in the near furture as the last two years they haven't done much at all.

We are allowed a shad to the size of 8x6 so I would be having two sheds  :D I was thinking of kitting out the second for brewing cider in, the other plot I want to turn into an orchid.

Is there any laws  saying this is not allowed? It will be for personal use.

Thanks
Dear God, Please can you stop the wind and rain and bring on the nice weather. Amen

Maybe not laws, but you should check your allotment rules.

I've just read my tenancy agreement and it covers pigs, hens, weeds, paths, hosepipes, selling produce and a myriad of other things, including planting trees  - no mention of cider brewing for home use mind  ;)

How would you manage to keep the temperature warm enough to start any brew off.

Hi,

I've look though my allotment site rules to see if I can or not.

As for keeping the heat up not sure yet, got to wait for the other plot to become vacant before going a head with it. will insulate the shed I think.

I haven't done any brewing yet been thinking about it for years, I will reading a lot after Christmas depending on what santa brings.  :)

Not that I brew but wouldn't it be difficult to keep everything clean, I'm thinking sterilising equipment etc, all takes lots of water hot & cold?
