my last buff sussex die last night. i found her sitting in her nest box
this morning. she was nearly 9yrs old.
watch her feeding yesterday all ok, saw her go into the loft ok last
night. she was just sitting as if to lay..... but no eggs from her
last year. sad but hope she did not suffer.
will be missed. the tamest chicken i have ever had would even sit on my  shoulder when younger...

It is a shame when one of the old girls finally goes, but nearly 9 is a pretty good run for a chicken.  If she was eating and behaving normally she wasn’t ill, so probably something sudden that she didn’t know much about.  I don’t think she would have suffered.

She did well and so did you, to keep her going so long.

thanks new shoot... never had a chicken so tame  even when i sat in the coop she would be on my legs... lol..
