Title: Where do seeds hide?
Post by: mumofstig on April 13, 2022, 10:06
At the beginning of the year, I always check what varieties I want to grow and cross them off my 'to buy' list if I already have them.. simple.
So where have they gone, now I want to sow them?....They must be hiding somewhere, but blowed if I can find them. I've looked twice now - finally reordered them this morning.

So you know what will happen next, don't you  ::)

I have no idea - they do the same here, disappearing for months on end only to show up when it's too late to plant them. The last couple of years I've bought new when I couldn't find them. I thought I was being smart this year and just ordered new packets of the all the usual suspect back in January, they have done a runner too.   Seeds packets are sneaky.  :nowink:

Happens to us all

My biggest problem is that seeds don't germinate so I sow more - yup, you've guessed it.  Last year I had enough tomato plants to stock B&Q and have left overs.  This year it's the turn of the leeks, if we eat 4 a day for a year I'll still have leftovers to make into soup

We have a sort of wicker hamper for seeds inside, and an icecream box for seeds in the greenhouse...

So I always check the hamper first, then go to the GC for others, which of course, are already in the icecream box!

I might even become a proper nerd and write a list down on the PC, in a spreadsheet form, with dates, costs, etc., but there again, life's to short to stuff a mushroom...

I keep mine in an old biscuit tin. They must like it in there as they stay there and don't go wandering.

That's the most dangerous time , they're plotting.  You'll turn around one day and the entire biscuit tin will have disappeared.  :nowink:

The critters! I can think of few things worse than a disappearing biscuit tin (possibly war in Ukraine) full of seeds.
