Bleeding comb
« on: August 14, 2020, 15:11 »
I have three chickens who are normally pretty peaceful. The little one at the bottom of the pecking order gets it in the neck from the other two sometimes and it has drawn blood. But today Number 2 chicken has got a blooming comb and head feathers. A small fly went there and the little chicken pecked it off. Should I bathe it and cover it with something like vaseline? She seems rather shaken, obviously. The other two are interested in the blood I think. Very distressing and I've no idea what caused it. Any help appreciated.

I keep the purple antiseptic spray for just this sort of thing, give it a spray & the others supposedly don’t see red so don’t peck!
