NEWBIE HELLOS AND QUESITONS !
« on: May 18, 2009, 16:27 »
Hi all,

We are going to get some chickens ( lol, hence this post ! ) !  :D

and I have some questions i need answering by people who know what they are talking about.

We are hoping to get this
http://www.henhouseworld.co.uk/ch103.htm
and are thinking about getting 2 ex-bats. We have logged our interest,.

we have a huge garden and the chooks will have full access at least 2 days a week and will stay in the run for the rest of the time - we will try to give them at least 1 hours a day in the garden about 5ish when we get home from work.

just some questions i need answering so i can get all this agreed in my head !

is that plan ok bearing in mind size of coup and run and garden time.

also- would grass be ok or should i slab the area for the run, or even astroturf?

ordered a book and food etc  - like the look of the coop - do you guys have any opinions in it before i make the order ?

i hope you can help me  !

Hello Darren and Amanda,
Welcome to the Forums and hen keeping.
You do not say how big your run is likely to be, but at least 2mx2m per hen is best.

ita the run that comes with the house.

"Dimensions
House L1245mm*W600mm*H1140mm
0ptional Run L1080mm*W890mm*L1130mm
Houses upto 3-5  birds Versitile and stylish
Chicken Coop that will compliment any
garden
"

it states you can keep 5 birds in this ? wouldnt like to see that - but thought 2 would be ok ?
