Can any one recommend one for me & my OH? We have 120 foot long privets over 6 foot high and are on our 3 rd hedge trimmer -battery powered with an arm that extends but it is beginning to fail. So we would like OH to have a petrol one but not sure which make to go for. We have invested in a platform type ladder so he can reach the tops now ( lucky him ::)) any suggestions most welcome because at this rate I am going to have to have the b****y shears out soon

I bought one if these last year. If you make sure it comes with the extension piece you can do everything from the ground. Can be a bit unwieldy to use but all the long reach tools are. Very handy pole pruning chainsaw for thicker stuff. Can't vouch for reliability but I have had no trouble starting it and have had a regular chainsaw of the same make for some years and that has worked reAlly well.

What make was it please?

hi i find stihl hedge cutters are excellent machines ,why not hire a hedgecutter for a couple of days (£30) cut all the hedges take it back no maintainance costs just a drop of 2 stroke petrolmix dont forget to use ear defenders and visor (hire shop should offer them) also gloves and sturdy boots jezza

Good idea Jezza, have suggested it to OH.
Lardman - what a comprehensive review of that machine, it also provides a good idea in what to look for with others as well. Made Oh read your review. Suggested he needs to handle them physically rather than just order it on line.
thanks both of you very helpful.
