Ideas for potato planters
« on: July 03, 2019, 13:50 »
I'm trying my best to keep costs down on the allotment. I have made a few raised beds for growing from pallet wood and now i've found i have no space for my Christmas spuds. How much space do they really need?

My raised beds are about 8 inches deep and there is no space to plant in the ground. Do they need more than 8 inches? If so, can i just build something like a deep square planter for them and grow them as if they were in buckets?

Thanks everyone.

Growing spuds for Christmas needs to be done under glass really, so a bag or planter that can be moved, start off outdoors & move indoors before it gets cold. An old compost bag turned inside out can be used.

Thank you. That's perfect.

Make sure you stab holes in the compost bag for drainage - easily overlooked!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
