John noticed on the commodities market that the price of sugar is at a record high and is set to increase even further in the shops.
I noticed, yesterday, that the price had already reached 93p for a 1 kg of sugar in Sainsburys. However, the price of Jam Sugar (the one with the pectin in) had in fact slightly reduced at £1.18 for a kg. Presumably this is because they have stocks.
Anyhow, the point is, at the moment it's cheaper to buy Jam Sugar than to buy ordinary granulated sugar and sachet or liquid pectin. So get your stocks in!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Val. :)
I'll pass the info through to the manufacturing department and see if we need to procure further stocks.
DO you know if this is one of those blips that precedes a price war or is it set to continue upwards ?
I'll await the guru's opinion. :D

Last time we saw something like this, John's father invested the equivalent of £200,000 in sugar and made a load. He had a grocery shop.
This is not to be considered as investment advice and you are reminded that the price of sugar can go down as well as up

Thank uou for the headss up here Val -- funnily enough they had sold out of Jam sugar in Waitrose yesterday: 'unprecedented demand' the assistant replied when asked if there was an issue :D

I've been authorised (instructed) to purchase as much as I can if I go out. That'll make sure the price drops like a brick. :D

:D If only it was the same for bankers.
I've just cashed in my remaining £100 premium bonds. Had them for about 20 years and won zilch. I should have bought a 100 bags of sugar. ::)

Do not think its part of large National chain.Several outlets in East Anglia

I'd go and buy up their stock! The big supermarkets, Tesco (not checked Asda) and Sainsburys are charging 93p. Even Aldi is charging 88p. I'm sure it will go up your way as well.

Asdas do a 5kg bag for £4.00 works out at 80p a kilo
