It was very warm here yesterday, and we had three queen wasps appearing in our conservatory!

We can't understand where they came from, as the door has a mesh insect door, so they must have over-wintered somewhere...

Last year we saw hardly any and didn't have their nests in the roof, like we normally do, but this is a bit early isn't it?

Strange.   Where did they go ?
I have just been reading a story about a woman who said her hives had been stolen.   Apparently it was deliberate, as they had buried a dead body under the hives, so then put the new ones back over.   Mrs Bouquet

talking about queen wasps we have had loads of them i brought some logs in the house and we had 3 queen wasps fling about I can only assume the came in with the logs then I moved some wood I had been storing outside covered up overwinter and it was full of wasps I think they where queen wasps

where we keep our logs for the fire in wooden crates overwinter all I can assume is that the queen wasps where hibernating in the wood store and bringing them in the house woke them up and at the same time also me
