Hi all,
We have five 8 week old chicks in a coop and run, they have grown so much in the last few days that they need more room in the run. To extend the run would mean building around them which I'm sure would distress them. Our main flock is 2 ex batts, 2 bantams and 2 blackrocks who are totally free range.  Can anyone advise me how to introduce the chicks into the flock, do we pop them in the main coop at night or just let them out?

Can they see each other all the time during the day at the moment?

Thanks for your swift reply.  Yes they can see them when they are in the garden which is very large but the hens can see the chicks and often pop over to see them.

I would try them together when you are there to supervise, you will get the big girls still having a go at them just to let them know who's the boss but hopefully they will be just minor disputes and the littleones will generally stick together and get out of the way.
