Pop-up greenhouses
« on: December 30, 2012, 19:18 »
Has anyone got one of these? This looks like a reasonable amount of space for the price.

That's weird - apart from the size, that it's PVC and green,  it doesn't tell you anything else about it

What's the frame made of - Plastic? Metal?

It looks as though it would blow away easily.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Difficult to see from the info available how something designed to be light and portable can be anything other than fall-over or blow-away rather than just pop-up!

I'm intrigued by the pic which seems to show a hose leading to it, which to me suggests it could be held up by pumping either water or air into it - I'd need to know much more about it before committing even £99.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I think maybe the hose is used for watering plants and shown for effect in the piccie!

Reading other ads about it, it folds up and stores in a bag.

I'm sorry to say, I wouldn't trust it in a force .5 breeze!

You could treble it's weight by putting in a growbag.

I have a greenhouse very similar to the one in the link and yes, they will blow away very easily, even with concrete blocks on their base rods. I'd never set it up in a windy area.

I placed mine in  a very sheltered corner on my back porch where it gets masses of sun but is right out of the direct winds. This has worked out very well for me. I leave mine up for about 2 months to harden off plants then take it down for the summer.

Unless you have a similar type of spot, perhaps sheltered by a shed or garage, you might be wasting your money.

I think a whisky mac-induced haze could have overheated my imagination yesterday, even though placing a hose nearby seems like rather an unnecessary prop, although I suppose it might help those mistakenly thinking it was a tent for sun-loving exhibitionist insomniacs!  :D

Whisky macs? Are you starting the celebrations early?!

I don't want a greenhouse that might sail away on the wind, so I'll have a rethink.

Thanks for all the comments - and the youtube clip was much appreciated by Small Child! (It also reminded her that we have to sit through Mary Poppins later - thanks!!)

Not at all - It's the Christmas/New Year space-time continuum!
