They're fabulous :D
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Foxy they are beautiful,
I did think about getting some runners, but opted for more calls instead!

Is that a Seal point you have there too???? We've got a chocolate point & used to have a Blue, he died last year  :(  The choc point hasn't been the same since  :(

More pics of the ducks please and love to hear how they're getting on maybe I'll get some next year???????

yes thats a seal point :D  I have two and they are very wary of broody hens! A puffed up broody hen is very very scary to them!!
That one in the clip is Harvey a super mouser!

Nice1 Foxy, runner ducks are so lovely, I have 3 myselfand theres no way I would get rid of them, even though they are quite skittish. They always run the opposite direction of where I'm walking lol. Did your hen hatch them out??? If she did then I'm gonna try it with my next clocker/broody hen. Big problem with rats at the min though, stealing my moscovy ducklings, and my runner eggs. But hopefullyI'll get more runner ducks soon the same way you did.

I just love Indian Runners and they get funnier. When putting our ducks to bed they follow me through the farm yard and you can hear the sound of their feet slapping on the concrete.

I do hope the cat doesn't decide they would make a nice snack!

I am quite surprised too by how loud their feet are! They have a special ramp up to the pop hole - in the mornings they come thudding down the ramp -a huge splash followed by lots of frenzied paddling then "thud thud thud thud" up the ramp to trash the henhouse some more!!!

mum is so perplexed by it all (and yes Mark she hatched them! shes a tiny australorp banty )

I am sure you know this, but in case you don't, a broody hen doesn't have a waterproof preen gland and the ducklings are therefore not waterproof until they are fully feathered, and their own preen galnds are fully matured. If you let them swim while still covered in down they will become waterlogged and drown.

We loved the 'launch' of ours on to the pond for the first time. Much flapping of wings, diving under the water and 'up tails all'!

If you watch a hen drinking, she is so delicate about it, just a beakful at a a time, very ladylike. But the ducklings throw water around, gargle it, paddle in it and make a terrible mess. In the end we removed the hen to stop her having a nervous breakdown!
