Post by: bluemaran on December 06, 2010, 22:00
still having lots of eggs despite the bad weather.have 2 warrens that lay 2 eggs every other day.4 cuckoo marans that produce 1 egg each nearly everyday, and my welsummer bantam has laid today for the first time in about 6 weeks.Have got a partridge wyndotte who raised two maran chicks that are 3 weks old and are running with the other hens and one wyndotte cockerel in the same run and are loving it.They all seem to look after the chicks ,its great to watch.

Hi, I'm lucky too, I'm still getting 3 eggs most days from 4 hens. Don't know how they are managing with the cold but they still seemhappy enough  :tongue2:

I get around 8/10 eggs from my 11 layers... little welsummer bantam (biggest one I have ever seen) is the only one not laying and thats coz she is a little young :)

And I got a surprise eggy from one of my pekins today.... there are around 50 of them so who knows which one it was :(  No one was giving me any clues anyway :)

OOOOOOOOh luckychookie.   If you have pullets that lstart to lay by October, they should lay throughout their 1st winter :)
