and the turkey with all the trimmings....................
what other recipes do you rely on for 'special occasions' at this time of year.

I love Antonio Carluccio's Hazelnut and Chocolate cake

Cheese cake with berries from the freezer and lots of very cold pouring cream but the absolute must is a sherry trifle made with birds custard. :)

Oh, and i'm drooling now thinking of stilton with a glass of port, heaven :)

If I didn't make a trifle (with birds custard and jelly and raspberries) it wouldn't be Christmas.

Oh, and stilton Spana and really strong cheddar.  Not keen on the port but will make Irish coffees to finish  :)

Trifle is a must.

I like to use madeira cake; rowntree's lemon jelly; raspberries (if not home grown then posh bottled ones in something alcoholic to soak into the sponge); proper custard (Bird's), I sometimes add a little evaporated milk to the custards mix too which gives a deeper flavour; whipped cream and toasted flaked almonds on top - bliss in a bowl :D

Ours is much the same, only i use a jam swiss roll to soak up the sherry, rowntree's raspberry jelly, birds custard with evaporated milk then the whipped cream and toasted almonds. :)

I can see this turning into a trifle topic :D

Aunt Sally - do you make the usual ratio of jelly and pour it over the cake, add fruit, wait for it to set, then top with cream?  Just wanted to check.  Thanks.

Do you have a recipe for those biscotti Janey? They sound like they would be a nice gift & I am making my own this year.  :tongue2:
