My Partridge Wyandotte Bantam has been an absolute star sitting on a clutch of 6 Welsummer Bantam eggs and some have hatched today. It is my late Nanas Birthday so I will never forget the date my first chicks hatched.
There are 2 that I know of and both looked to have the markings of girls.
Here are the first photos.

They're georgeous. It must be absolutely magical when you spot the chicks for the first time!

6 out of 6 hatched, I am so chuffed. I think (as a novice) that there is 4 female and 2 male. Will have to wait and see if I am right. :D

I did nearly put "Chick en a Basket".
Some members will be too young to remember the popular Pub Grub though. Don't know what the slice of Orange was all about though!

Didn't stop grinning yesterday :D
Have another clutch due Sunday/Monday this time of Light Sussex Bantams under my other Partridge Wyandotte bantam Dotty. Keeping my fingers crossed as I feel so blessed that I had 100% hatch of the first batch. Still grinning :D

Here are some pictures of Lotty taking her chicks to explore for the first time at 5 days old. I can't believe how quickly they grow, they resemble an ostrich when they stand tall with their really long legs.

I was lucky enough to have 2 at the same time but then it was a rush to get fertile eggs before they changed their minds.
-
They still make me smile :D
-
Have managed to put leg rings on the ones I think are boys so I can see as they develop if I am right.
-
First tail feathers for one of the little boys.
-
Piggy back time. :D
-
They won't give Lotty a minutes peace!
-
I can't believe how quickly they grow feathers.
-
Very, very cute :)

They are three weeks old now, watching Mums every move and learning all the time. Not much chance of catching them as she has taught them well. So when she defends them I catch her knowing that the chicks will follow. 8)

Don't they grow fast. nice healthy looking bunch you have there. :)
-
They are lovely looking
-
so cute....do you think you have 4 girls and 2 boys???

2 boys, 3 girls and one I am unsure of. I have put blue leg rings on the 2 boys and a gold on the ? one. The 2 boys are a lot more adventurous when they are freeranging so I am hoping the ? is another girl. :)
Have told hubby I am only keeping one Welsummer Bantam and one Light Sussex Bantam chick but it will be really hard to choose. I am crossing my fingers for also keeping one of Welsummer Bantam boys but that will depend on how noisy they are and how understanding the neighbours are.

My neighbours and family already buy all the hens and quail eggs (usually none left for us)! It would be the neighbours that back onto ours that I would think wouldn't be so understanding. Will just have to see how things go.

As fast as Bessies puppies Thrift, ahh they are not babies for very long. Making the most of them while they are still cute and cheeping rather than squawking or even crowing!
